My Review of Gastonia Nissan:
I was extremely disappointed with the treatment I received at this dealership. I refused the initial deal on a 2000 Land Rover Discovery and left at 11 am.The salesman called me on my cell phone once I got about 30 miles away (I live in a different state - SC). He said the 'owner' wanted my business and had agreed to my price of $9500 bottom line. I agreed to come back in and purchase the car, but told him it would be a couple of hours before I could return due to a previously scheduled meeting. He told me this was fine and he'd see me soon. I finished with my meeting and was back in Gastonia within 2 1/2 hours. I was able to get a friend that was headed to Charlotte to drop me off. When I got back to the dealership at 1:30, I was told the car was out on a test drive. It had been previously scheduled. I wasn't worried at the time. Surely, they wouldn't sell the car to someone else. I would just wait for them to get back in my car. Things went down hill from there. The car finally did come back, but was parked on the opposite side of the dealership where I couldn't see it. No one even bothered to tell me the guy was back from his test drive. After about 20-30 minutes, Charles, one of the sales managers mentioned on his way by that the truck was just sold. No one came and told me anything. He just happened to be walking by as I was standing, stretching my legs. I was furious. I couldn't believe they'd just sold the car I drove an hour out of my way to buy. Now I was stranded. Charles was very rude and offered no apologies. Charles, the 'owner', wasn't any more helpful. He came over to speak to me at my request and then answered a cell phone call. He came back when he was finished, but was adamant that I had had the opportunity to buy the car earlier, but didn't. I told him I understood that, but they had called me back in agreeing to sell me the car at my price. How could they leave me hanging like this? He was most unapologetic, also. I was later told by another Charles (salesman) that he was going to offer me a car to drive home, but I acted like there was nothing he could do for me. How was I supposed to act exactly? I most certainly wasn't going to kiss up to him at that point (or at any time for that matter.) I was extremely upset, so I dismissed him. The other guy paid $12000 for the Land Rover. He was a fool. They told him that I was there to buy it, so he'd better make an offer if he wanted it.
I don't so much have a problem with the fact that they sold it to the other guy. They made much more money off the sale than they were going to make off of me. My problem is that when the other guy's negotiations were going on, noone came to me and said anything about the truck possibly not being available and that I might need to make other arrangements. It still would have been a sucky situation, but at least there would have been some humanity involved. They were just cold and heartless.
This was no way to gain my business. I'll never shop there and I hope everyone that sees this will avoid them also.
