I saw an advertisement for a XT4 Cadillac from Greensboro Honda last Sept. Greensboro Honda in North Carolina and I worked a deal that made both of us happy. The Greensboro Honda Dealership agreed to drive m Honda last Sept. Greensboro Honda in North Carolina and I worked a deal that made both of us happy. The Greensboro Honda Dealership agreed to drive my new car up to Charlottesville Virginia where we met our young salesman. We exchanged cars as I was trading in my 2013 CTS Cadillac. Our salesman asked us to sign a packet of paperwork on the Hood of the new car. He didn’t even offer to meet us at a location where we could sit down and review the information we were going to sign. We were told by our Salesman that they would handle all the transferring of tags and titles. Our Salesman asked us to sign the old car's title over to the Dealership. Which we did thinking that they had to take the car out of our names. The Salesman never mentioned anything about holding the title until it was sold. The Salesman said they would take it out of our name and all we had to do was take the Insurance off the old car and put it on the new car. My wife called USAA immediately and did as he instructed. We then patiently waited for weeks for the registration to be sent to us but it never happened. We contacted Robert Walsh at the Greensboro Honda Dealership and found out that the Title was stuck in Florida. That meant we didn’t really own the car. This is where everything started to go bad. I wanted to return the car but I realized that Greensboro Honda more than likely had sold our old car or junked it. The Sales Manager Robert Walsh did offer me a few dollars to keep the deal in place. We accepted the money knowing that the title problem would take a month to be rectified. After a month we still didn’t have our title. A week later still no title, a week later still no title this went on for weeks. Once they got it titled we finally got our registration. We have records of the small checks they sent us accepting blame and proving they knew they did us wrong on this transaction. Now we had hoped this was the end of the story but that wasn’t the case. I was stopped by my local sheriff's office and under a routine check of my wife's and my licence we found that our licence’s had been suspended. I asked why and they said it was because we didn’t have insurance on the 2013 CTS that was traded in in Sept. We found out that the Greensboro Honda Dealership had not titled the car in their name. We also found out that the car wasn’t put into someone's name until Jan 21st 2026. I found out later it was sold at auction. This left us scrambling to get our licenses back. We were told by Hayden Gee, “Thanks for reaching out. I just consulted with my tag and title team, and in North Carolina, dealerships are not required to flip the title into or out of anyone's name until it reaches an end user. Therefore, it is/was not our responsibility to remove your name from your previous vehicle. Thanks, Hayden Gee Sales Manager Greensboro Honda 336-544-2782 That meant that due to the Greensboro Honda Dealership not titling the car into their name we would have to carry a SR-22 for 4 years. We would also have to pay $600 plus a $20 fee to get our licenses reinstated. We had to contact the Greensboro Honda Dealership to get proof that we had indeed sold the car to them. Hayden Gee had not sent us any forms that were notarized thus leaving us not knowing if we had indeed sold the car to Greensboro Honda. As I previously stated, we fulfilled our obligation in regard to your trade-in titling. The delay in trade registration was not a result of the titling issue, rather, the fact that the vehicle was not retitled in a consumer's name until months later. Hayden Gee Sales Manager Greensboro Honda 336-544-2782 On top of this we were told that because we would have to carry a SR-22 for 4 years that our car insurance on both of our cars would be much higher. How much higher was yet to be determined. We had asked Greensboro Honda Dealership to cover our out of pocket expenses and were told they More
