Mr. Belcher, We would like to apologize for the miscommunication in regards to the recall on your car, your service advisor reached out to you after the technician found the top starter bolt had been cross threaded from previous repairs that had been completed on your vehicle. This was probably unknowingly done by the previous technician when completing the clutch replacement, but before proceeding with the recall we wanted to inform you of the potential worst case scenario should we not be able to cut and extract the bolt that was cross threaded as planned. That was when the additional labor to cut and extract the bolt was quoted or the option was given to not go any further or perform the recall at all with the risk of you needing a new block. With the unknown condition of the bolt we thought it would be best to inform you of our findings and allow you to make a decision on whether to proceed or not with the recall. When it was stated that you are going to be okay and we will be able to extract and re thread the bolt we were not saying there would be no charge, we were stating that it would be the original quote to extract and re thread the bolt rather than needing to go to worst case scenario. Again we apologize for this miscommunication, we quoted the minimum to cut and extract the bolt so we could continue with the recall on your vehicle. Since we had the engine out of the car we thought it would be most beneficial for you to save money by getting the spark plugs replaced since there would be no labor, just the cost of the parts.
