How did that repair become necessary? I gave this dealership two stars because they have a very nice waiting room with coffee and WI-FI. Also, they have friendly staff. I have a Jeep Wrangler that received a recall for an airbag issue.  I understand many things about my Jeep because I have driven to and from the desert in California. That is over 2000 miles each way.  I am very familiar with my Jeep because I am mechanically inclined and enjoy driving.  I made an appointment with John Jones Jeep in Corydon, Indiana to resolve a recall issue with my airbag clockspring and some related hardware. During the day I received a call telling me they had done a free safety check and determined my Jeep needed an air filter, spark plug wires, and new spark plugs.  They offered to do those items for $305.00.  I thanked them for pointing that out, but I would take care of that myself.  I had them lock my key in the car because I could not pick it up during normal business hours. When I arrived to pick up my Jeep, everything appeared in order, so I signaled my wife and we headed home.  Jeep drivers, at least us off road lovers, pay very close attention to our vehicles.  During the drive home I noticed the Jeep logo on my steering wheel  was not on a level horizontal plane.  It wasn't vertical or anything so drastic as that, but it was cockeyed enough to disturb me. If I kept the wheel so the logo was horizontal the Jeep tracked to the left side of the road.  I decided to have them look at that the next day.  When I arrived home I picked up the repair paperwork.  For the first time I noticed they had attached an alignment evaluation that showed my wheels toe setting was well out of alignment. That was a surprise, so I checked for unusual tire wear that would be caused by toe in alignment issues.  The tires were just fine and in fact the "Free Safety Check" said my tires were just fine. The following day I drove my Jeep a short distance and my ESP/BAS light clicked on and the car traction light illuminated.  That made perfect sense to me because driving a Jeep Wrangler that is out of alignment has the steering wheel Jeep logo alignment off center.  When I called the dealer they attempted to give me an appointment for the next day or two. I told them I had a warning light and since their recall repair caused the problem I wanted to take it in today.  The nice lady made an appointment for me.  I took the car in and told them my issue was the steering wheel being cockeyed and the warning light.  After a reasonable repair time the service writer came and told me the steering wheel being cockeyed was a pre-existing condition and they were still checking out the lights. I told him absolutely not.  Their recall repair that required the removal of the steering wheel and who knows what else, was what caused it. The writer was relying on information relayed from the repair tech. Rather than continuing an argument with the poor service writer I just shut up, attempted to keep my anger in check and left. I went immediately to Big O tires where I normally go for any tire or suspension issue for my cars. While waiting I called John Jones to ask how much they charged for alignment. It was $99 and if the camber needed adjustment it would be an additional $150. I spoke with the Big O alignment specialist and he confirmed my tire's were not wearing uneven which was an indication that the alignment had not been that far off for very many miles. Big O charges $59 for alignment to include camber if needed. Although I will not accuse anyone at John Jones Jeep of deliberately putting my wheels out of alignment, I will mention some reasons I am very suspicious. 1. The lack of tire wear being uneven indicates it happened within not very many miles. 2. The steering wheel being off center when I picked the car up. (Jeep Wrangler steering wheels can only be put on one way because of the design, so it wasn't because it was put on wrong) 3.  The ESP/BAS and Anti skid warning lights are triggered by alignment issues, steering off center, Airbag clockspring problems and possibly a few other reasons. 4. My airbag clockspring was part of the recall. 5.  When I was called, the plugs, wires, and aircleaner filter where the only items mentioned. It is strange to me that no mention of the alignment was made. Did they mess up my alignment during the steering wheel removal and other repairs? Was my alignment knocked out because I declined the suggested repairs?  You make your own conclusions because I have certainly come to mine. I will never have anything done at John Jones ever again.  They currently have a great deal on oil change and tire rotation. I wonder how many problems will be detected during that service? My advice is steer clear of John Jones GM/Chrysler.   There is way too much smoke to not have fire. James F. Barnard Corydon, Indiana  More
