This is at least the second time the service department has sent my family home with an unsafe car. I’ve previously submitted a review of the failure to correctly refill my daughter’s transmission fluid af has sent my family home with an unsafe car. I’ve previously submitted a review of the failure to correctly refill my daughter’s transmission fluid after routine service last year. She called me from I75 on her way to college to tell me the transmission felt rough. This time they sent me home with a major brake fluid leak from incorrectly reattached hoses after a repair that I regard as questionable at best. I brought my car in with dashboard stabilitrack warnings. It had noticeable braking issues but the warning light came on when releasing the brakes from a full stop. I was told the ABS modulator was “fried” and needed to be replaced for $1600. But the day after the car was returned I had the same errors in the same braking conditions. After bringing it back in, I was told the battery was low and causing false error messages. So did I need the $1600 replacement? I was told yes that they got the ABS modulator error code from the computer. But were those false codes from the battery? Why wasn’t the battery issue caught the first time? At minimum, had the battery issue been caught the first time we could have replaced it for $300 and rechecked the ABS codes to see if they were false positives. To repeat, the failure to reconnect the brake li es resulting in a major leak and THIRD visit to the shop were after all of the above. I think I’m done here. Once one loses faith in a service provider, all sorts of other questions emerge. In August I had this same Traverse in the shop and was told it was time for routine brake service on the rear. But then I get a call that a bolt sheared off and the had to hammer off and replace the part. Suddenly routine service became a $2000 repair bill. I was told the bolt was corroded. Really? On a car with 130,000 miles? Or did someone shear the bolt through carelessness or inexperience and I got stuck with the bill. Given the other routine errors we’ve had at this shop, I must admit that I now lean towards that interpretation. I’ve been a loyal customer here for at least 10 years, but management and ownership need to know that the steep decline in quality from the backend of service department has ended that loyalty. (The front desk guys - and in particular Jason - are always great and frankly the main reason I’ve let things go this long.) More
