Brought 2013 impala in for an oil leak on driveway. 1st trip they replaced the front cover gasket. Still leaks. 2nd time they replaced steering rack. Still leaks. 3rd trip they found the trouble was a bad oil filter( that they installed) no more oil leak! 1 week later heard a rubbing noise from passenger front tire area. Looked myself and found splash guard at front of engine improperly installed and rubbing cv joint. Guard damaged beyond repair. Buying it myself to avoid dealing with them again. More
never will by parts again . Bought a rebuilt. transmission 4 months ago had a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. .Went out at 4000 mi exactly. Called them and they said. No problem Bought a rebuilt. transmission 4 months ago had a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. .Went out at 4000 mi exactly. Called them and they said. No problem bring it in. 7 days went by with no call. When service called back they told us that the transmission housing was cracked and would not be covered. This had nothing to do with the transmission shifting. They cracked it taking it out; .they never took the dog house off which holds the top of the transmission. It was hanging and cracked as it's aluminum . Now over 3 weeks later someone representing GM says not their problem. Meanwhile we have had to pay at our expense three heavy duty tows for this box truck that we warranted for a customer of ours. Personally pulled the codes on the truck and code showed that the internal problem .they cover warni if they take it out.. well taking it out they broke it. G M or Bobby layman would not cover. . front pumps out of it so we had tow it out 3 week later.Getting parts over 20 years Thank for the help G M. (You to new layman). Not my first rodeo over 32 years as mechanic. More
Long Time Customer I started dealing with Bobby Layman back in the early 1980's. I've bought New and used cars and trucks there and they have always done my service. Fr I started dealing with Bobby Layman back in the early 1980's. I've bought New and used cars and trucks there and they have always done my service. From scheduled maintenance to emergency service (And they were my personal emergencies) Bobby's crew was always ready to help and in some cases "Fit me in". Always courteous and very helpful they've treated me well. As a Veteran I appreciate being called Sir, coupled a warm respectful smile. I know when I send my wife in, she won't be taken advantage of, the team is helpful and shoots from the hip. My hats off to the Bobby Layman Service team, and I highly recommend them. JF More
Bad Service and Rude The service department at Bobby Layman fixed a heating issue on my 2008 Impala in October of 2013. In October of 2014 I started having the same issue The service department at Bobby Layman fixed a heating issue on my 2008 Impala in October of 2013. In October of 2014 I started having the same issues. I called see if anything would be covered under warrantly since it was the same issue and it was a week short of a year since the repairs. I was told I would need to bring the car in before they could determine if anything would be covered. The service department said the earliest they could get me in was the following week at 12:30. Was told I had to bring the car at that time for repairs. I took a half day of vacation to take the car in. When I arrived I was told nothing would be covered under warranty. I was also told the car would need to be left over night because they would not look at it until the following day. This upset me because I made an appointment for repairs and was never told the car would need to be left over night. Told the service person that I had no way to get home and no way to get to work the following day. His comment was leave the car or don't leave the car. I did not leave the car. More
New tire I had bad services because of a tire that I needed replace. Ethan Stroup told me that they didn't have one in stock, but down the road had a use/repai I had bad services because of a tire that I needed replace. Ethan Stroup told me that they didn't have one in stock, but down the road had a use/repair one that was lot cheaper. So the went down the road to put it on and found out the wrong size. They went back to Bobby Laymans and put my donut tire on without letting me know. Then i had to wait around then found my car was done and setting in the parking lot until I said when our you going to release my car that's been done for some time. Then when i got the new tire same thing had to call them to see if the tire came in, which it did. Then when they had it done, again had to go and ask them the car is in the parking lot done, and could you have the bill. Ethan went home both times this is might why i had to wait so long the order was on his deck and know one took care of it. Bad Bad Business. I will get oil changes there and that's it. Will not buy another CAR there. Thanks Roy Rainey More
Good Grief! I thought I would go online and write a few reviews about the complete incompetence of this dealership but apparently many others have beat me to this. So my advice is DON'T JUMP! I took my tru reviews about the complete incompetence of this dealership but apparently many others have beat me to this. So my advice is DON'T JUMP! I took my truck there for an estimate. My first mistake. I dropped it off at 9 am, noting that I had to be at work at 5. After being assured this estimate would take no more than two hours, I was shuttled back to my home. Then I proceeded to call at 11, again at 1:30, 2:30, 3:15, by 4 I'm frantic. Every time I was assured I would be called right back. No chance. Needless to say, I was almost 2 hours late for work and was suspended ten days as a result. ( I had to call off two months ago when my daughter fell and broke her front teeth, other than that, I am never late). Sooo, when I get back to my truck there is no one around, just the cashier to take my $106 for the 9 hours of BS! The shuttle driver promised that my fees would be credited back to me and I was given a hand written estimate on a scrap piece of paper (worth $106? you be the judge) full of illegible notes and abbreviations that meant nothing to anyone who was not a mechanic. The estimate? $3000.00 and the only legible thing on the page. The kicker? I was told that the problem I had brought it in for was due to the sway bar links needing replaced, they wanted $95 X2 for the links and $150 for labor, my husband did it in 45 mins and paid $30 each for the links. However, the problem continues so they were wrong. I was also told I need new front brakes, which are less than six months old. Whatever. So I waited for the credit to be put back on my card. Never happened, so I called and told the service manager the whole ridiculous story. He promised he would check into everything and that I would for sure be getting a call back FROM HIM that day. Nope. He had the same guy who jerked me around and caused me to lose $1100 (at minimum from 10 days of lost work) etc etc call me back. He offered a whole host of excuses as to why all this happened, basically it was not his fault as you may have guessed, and his remedy was to again promise the refund for the hand written estimate as it was totally useless. I suggest not bothering with this poor excuse for a business. I plan to post this review everywhere possible in the hopes of saving others from this frustration and also in the hope that BOBBY LAYMAN will lose at least as much money as I have. More
I took my 08 Chevy Malibu into this dealer because the check engine light was on. It was the 4th time I had had to take it in for the same reason. After a month at Bobby Layman and no updates other than t check engine light was on. It was the 4th time I had had to take it in for the same reason. After a month at Bobby Layman and no updates other than to tell me they had no idea what was wrong with the car they told me I would have to replace the engine and it was not a warranty issue. The car had 17,000 miles on it and had the oil changed as the oil life indicator told when it was time. When I told them I wanted a second opinion and wanted it shipped up to my dealer in Tallmadge Ohio, they said it would cost $1600 to get the car back with the bad engine. When I went to pick it up with a flatbed, they had the engine dissasembled and thrown into the back of my car on top of the my personal belonings that were in there. It is now up at Serpentini in Tallmadge, a reputable dealer, and they are telling me that Bobby Layman's people had covered their tracks to the point where there was no way of telling if the Cams are scored without a $2000 micrometer assesment. Also, according to Serpentini, they would have waranteed the vehicle no questions. I have always been a loyal GM owner with over 15 GM cars purchased by me and my family over the last 10 years. Because of the way I was treated at Bobby Layman and because of how GM has handled the situation, I will never buy one of their cars again. I would stay as far away from the service department at this dealer as possible. They are crooked. GM and Bobby Layman both know that the longer they string the situation along and the longer I go without a car, the more likely I am to just pay. I have never in my life felt so betrayed and abused. I always argued with people who said American cars just arent of the same quality. Now i understand first hand why GM is on the way out. How could a company with such a loyal following treat people so poorly? I cannot afford the legal team to fight this battle so I will pay the $10,000 now and my car payment for the remining 16 months but I swear on my mothers life, GM will never receive another dollar from me. Period. More
Don't bother considering Bobby Layman. I recently had Don't bother considering Bobby Layman. I recently had work done on my aging Chevy at another dealer; then the car broke down again. Layman was the Don't bother considering Bobby Layman. I recently had work done on my aging Chevy at another dealer; then the car broke down again. Layman was the closest dealer, so I wound up there. Next time I'll pay hefty towing charges to stay away from them. They charge close to triple retail price on parts, and I'm pretty sure the repair they did didn't solve the real problem. The car runs, but it still doesn't respond right. Matt was friendly in person but didn't return phone calls. I had to track him down to get the estimate. Virgil was completely rude. Go to Layman's only if you have money to burn. More
I purchaced a new vehicle from them and have had to take it back at least twice each time work needed completed to have the repair completed. I have been told warranty does not cover this on many occations, it back at least twice each time work needed completed to have the repair completed. I have been told warranty does not cover this on many occations, the last was just yesturday, I then went to another Columbus Metro dealer who said that my problem was common and they would have it repaired ASAP. Bobby Layman was trying to charge me almost $400! Do not purchace your vehicle there unless you plan to have it serviced eslwhere! More
