After my 17 year old son totaled my 2017 4Runner, I needed a new car ASAP. Sarah was amazing. I told her what I wanted and within a day she found it for me. She was super friendly and efficient. Withi needed a new car ASAP. Sarah was amazing. I told her what I wanted and within a day she found it for me. She was super friendly and efficient. Within an hour of me arriving at the dealership I was driving away with my 2021 Camry SE AWD. Sarah had all the paperwork ready to go. Jason worked his magic as he usually does. He helped me get my 4Runner in 2019, and he made this happen. I can't say enough good things about this dealership. I highly recommend them. More
We had one of the strangest and most unpleasant experiences at McGee Toyota. We contacted them regarding a Toyota Certified Used Corolla Hatchback that was listed on both their website *and* on experiences at McGee Toyota. We contacted them regarding a Toyota Certified Used Corolla Hatchback that was listed on both their website *and* on Toyota's Certified Used Corporate site. It was priced considerably lower than I would have expected, especially given the current supply issues and inventory problems in the industry due to the pandemic. Anthony confirmed it was available, and we made arrangements to come up later that day to see it. I made it clear to Anthony that we did not have a trade-in and already had secured our own financing. We live about an hour away from the dealership. About ten minutes before our scheduled appointment time as we were driving up I-91, we get a text saying the car, despite what the dealer website, the corporate website, and the CarFax said was not actually certified used, but they--of course--had other, more expensive vehicles that were available. I was angry at what appeared to be a blatant bait-and-switch, and really should have just walked away then, but the original car would have been a good deal, and I was open to the possibility that there had been some sort of genuine confusion on their part regarding the status of the car--Toyota would not have it listed on their corporate site if it weren't actually Certified Used. We texted back and forth for a bit, with me commenting that it seemed odd that the car would be listed on Toyota's site as having been certified if it was not. I also pointed out that it was not good practice to misrepresent like that to get someone to come to the dealership. They then came back to us and said, oops, yeah, there was a mistake, it actually *is* certified. Before embarking on the drive again, I had them specifically confirm via text the VIN number and certification status. We arrived the dealership about an hour before they closed. They were apologetic for the confusion, gave some story about how someone in the service department had been off that day and there had been a miscommunication in his absence. It actually seemed plausible. Salesguy Anthony was pleasant, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. We drove the car and liked it, but weren't keen to be rushed through a purchase at the end of the day like that, plus, despite the seeming plausibility of the story, it did not inspire trust in the dealership, and we wanted some time to think about it. At that point Lane, Anthony's manager, joined the conversation. He did the pushy car dealer thing of "What can we do to get you in this car today?" He pushed the extended warranty *really* hard (not the Toyota Certified Used, but the ones you buy in addition to that, which we made clear weren't at all interested in). He said the car was supposed to go to auction because they "could make more money selling it at auction than they could selling it to customers on the lot" which, I mean, *maybe* given that prices in, say, eastern Mass are a little higher, but then he said it was only still there on the lot as a "community service." LOL He continued with more pushy sales garbage, which only served to make us want to get out of there even more. We left the dealership, but by the next day had decided that because we really liked the car and it was a really good deal, we'd take them up on their offer of an overnight test drive so we could have our mechanic look at it (overkill on a certified vehicle, but we wanted to be careful since it was still a used car). Which we did. As expected, our mechanic approved. So we texted Anthony, negotiated and agreed on a price (very close to the already low listed price) over text, and made arrangements to come up and finalize the paperwork that afternoon. At that point, we were mostly pleased. Car buying is seldom pleasant, but we liked the vehicle. But then the phone calls started. Lane and Anthony were on conference call, and insisting that they had to do "a presentation" on the available extended warranties, despite our being clear that we did not want to purchase one. They insisted they had to give us the "presentation" and bizarrely said they'd call back again to do that. Then they called and said that the car could be sold out from under us while we were finalizing the paperwork with out credit union for the loan unless we used Toyota financing instead right then and there. And then there was some sort of vague problem with the Toyota financing. It was like they were scrambling to dome up with every way possible to not sell us the car. And then Lane calls us and says that the car actually really is not Certified Used after all, citing some minor scratches as "body damage that Toyota would not allow the car to be certified, and that he'd "understand if we wanted to walk away from the sale." It was just so bizarre. They were clearly trying to get us to either buy the extended warranty or walk away. We did, indeed, walk away at that point. We had already lost a day of work with their day of delays and absolutely did not trust them to put the deal through and do right by us at that point, My theory was that someone had made a pricing mistake and they simply did not want to sell the car at that price, and when pushed (I worded my texts very carefully to call out their initial bait-and-switch move) at least not without adding a dealer moneymaker of an extended warranty onto it. When we would not go for that, they just wanted to kill the deal. And the kicker? Several days later I got a text from Toyota of Nashua offering me literally the exact same vehicle (same VIN, same mileage it had when we dropped it back at the dealer) for $3K more than it had been listed at with McGee. The thing is, if they had said, "We were going to send it to auction because prices are crazy and its worth has gone up a bunch in the last couple of weeks since we initially priced it" or "we actually made a pricing mistake, but you're here, so, well, our 'loss'" and had then just been honest and sold it to us, we would have been telling everyone what a great deal we got from McGee, and sending them customers. But they didn't. They lied, they misrepresented, and they wasted our time. Avoid them. They'll do it to you, too. More
When we contacted the sales person to buy out our lease he told us that the paperwork would be ready when we got there. When we sat down we informed him that we did not need any addons. After badgering us he told us that the paperwork would be ready when we got there. When we sat down we informed him that we did not need any addons. After badgering us 4 times for addons and two plus hours we finally were able to complete the sale. We have bought 6 vehicles from Howe/Mcgee and this will be our last. More
I got my 2018 Rav4 from there and they were wonderful working with me so I could get my first car loan! So happy they gave me a chance with a new car with super low miles! I highly recommend. The only do working with me so I could get my first car loan! So happy they gave me a chance with a new car with super low miles! I highly recommend. The only downside was I waited there with my kid for 3 hours and still ended up leaving without a car, they were putting new tires on and I got it the following day More
