This is the first time I was at the this dealer. The previous owners left a sour taste in my mouth on last visit. This visit was a stark contrast to my experience previously. This was my second attempt to purchase my first car, one being unsuccessful about 3 years ago. I was mostly set on a Mazda 3 Hatchback and like many others, my starting point was True Car, which allowed me to compare a few dealerships. As expected, I started to get bombarded by McGrath City Mazda salespeople in a very aggressive and confused way. Once I got to the dealership to test drive the car we set at the table and start running the numbers and I was pressed several times to buy the car on the spot, even though I was clear since the beginning that I was just shopping around. Once at home I noticed that, on the quote, not only they didn’t even apply the discount that was advertised on their website, they also bundled the Destination Fee shown on the window stoker into the MRSP and added an additional Destination fee of more than $1,000. Right there the little bit of trust I could possibly had in that dealership was gone. I sent an outrageously low-ball counteroffer via email calling them out on their tactics and they rejected it and disappeared for a week. They resurfaced a week later, but at that point I was no longer interested, and I was just hours from inking the deal with The Autobarn Mazda Evanston. If you want to save time and money, stay away from this place. Nobody needs to be treated the way they treat their customers. More
