50 Reviews of Murdock Hyundai Lindon - Service Center
I wish I could put into words how disappointed I am with Lindon Murdock Hyundai. I have purchased 2 cars from them. I have tried to call into play warranty work which they swear up and down in the purchase Lindon Murdock Hyundai. I have purchased 2 cars from them. I have tried to call into play warranty work which they swear up and down in the purchase process it is true bumper to bumper. When you get it need to get work done, they evade and make things up regarding after market parts, and expiring warranties. This may end up being a long story. So if you want to read, stay. So I bought a chrysler minivan used from them with a warranty. I brought it to them before the warranty expired for a cylinder 3 misfire, they examined it, and stated that they didn't think there was enough of a problem, and sent me on the way after clearing the codes. Then 9 months later, warranty now expiring, the whole cylinder , rocker arms valves all go bad, and now they won't cover anything because the warranty expired. Almost 6000 $ later they fixed it. I went back and forth with all parties, threatened law on them and nothing. So much for customer loyalty. Forward now 2 months later I bring in my 2015 hyundai sonata because the key ignition tumbler no longer works, same thing happened in Hyunday in idaho falls id, that dealership covered it , and warrantied it, and when it failed down here. The Murdock dealership stated that after market parts were used, and even after talking with the other Hyundai dealer ship in IF, they wouldn't fix it, because they told me I have driven 12,320 miles exceeding the 12000 miles from June to December, I travel 12 miles a day, no way I passed that miles limit. Idaho was willing to pay for the part but nothing from Murdock. Short stay far away from these con artists. They care about their bottom line and nothing else. I would never ever ever recommend them to anyone!!!! Avoid Noah Free, Jordan Burningham and their useless service manager Shawn Miller when I asked for a call, that never called me back. They suck at follow up and desiring to help. I don't like to wish bad things on businesses but I do here. More
I received a recall notice from Hyundai about a defective fuel line that could cause an engine compartment fire on my 2013 Sonata. It was just a notice to let me know that a solution was being worked on. I fuel line that could cause an engine compartment fire on my 2013 Sonata. It was just a notice to let me know that a solution was being worked on. I took my car to Murdock in Lindon. And asked for the 10 year old part to be replaced. The Service Manager flatly refused to even look at the my car to see if the fuel line was leaking. He gave me nothing but legal liability crap excuses. This is the fourth recall on my Sonata that Hyundai has told me about. Come to find out, there are three others that Hyundai DIDN'T tell me about. If I could give Murdock zero stars I would. I will NEVER buy another vehicle from Murdock. More
Hyundai is terrible at service and terrible at building cars. I bought a new Kona last year for my little sisters 16th birthday. The engine exploded due to manufacturing defects at 7k miles while she was driving it late at night. She had PTSD from the event and would not drive it. I gave them a second chance and got her an Elantra, despite the fact they didn’t give me any deal or benefit from the factor their car failed at 7k miles and inconvenienced me for days. Guess what happened next? On the second oil change they didn’t tighten the oil plug and it drained out staining my driveway and the road in front of my house. It did the same thing to my sister as she was leaving school and had to be towed back to the dealer, embarrassing her. Now they tell me it’s just fine despite being driven with no oil due to their negligence. What good is a 100k mile warranty if you have to spend several days without a car every 6 months? What kind of car company and dealer does this and doesn’t compensate paying customers for their wasted time, money, and ruined property. Hyundai and Murdock Hyundai, that’s what kind. Most disappointing car experience ever. More
I took my Sonata in to Murdock for an oil change last week. The technician texted me that he found an oil leak and sent me a picture. The picture showed a small puddle of oil under a vehicle. The oil w week. The technician texted me that he found an oil leak and sent me a picture. The picture showed a small puddle of oil under a vehicle. The oil was translucent and golden like new oil, not the dark color of used oil. Also, the vehicle underside was obviously not my vehicle. He said the repair would be 300 dollars and could be done right away. I was suspicious because my car has never leaked oil, so I refused the service. I believe the tech was dishonest, and I will be calling the service manager. More
Worst experience I have had with a dealership. Took my Worst experience I have had with a dealership. Took my 2015 Sonata in because it was running very ruff and the Turn Signal Switch is going out. Worst experience I have had with a dealership. Took my 2015 Sonata in because it was running very ruff and the Turn Signal Switch is going out. I was told the diagnostic fee would be $130 and I agreed. I was told the problem with it running rough was the spark plugs and was quoted $358 to replace 4 spark plugs. Also told the Turn Signal Switch was going out, (Which I knew, just wanted a price to fix it) quoted $557. I also received a laundry list of items that was "Needs Immediate Attention". Brakes, quoted $357; Valve Cover Gasket, quoted $309 (Received pictures of oil around the valve cover); Alignment, quoted $118; 3 system service, Transmission, Coolant and Injection Service, quoted $448. Now I understand a mechanic or shop can charge what they want and it is my choice to have them do the work or not, but I just had the brakes checked two weeks ago by another shop and told they were getting low, but good for another 6-9 months. I had the coolant, tranny and injection work done a year ago by them. They didn't even check their own records.... In the picture of the valve cover gasket, the oil around the valve cover was right out of the bottle, (Gold in color) but anyone who is mechanically inclined knows, any oil that has been inside a motor and ran, will have a dark tint (if new) or black (If used for sometime), but this was gold like right out of a bottle. One of two things going on here. 1-mechanic placed the oil there and took pictures to get me to have the work done (I hope is not the case) 2-I had the oil changed a few weeks ago and the tech spilled a little oil when refilling the motor. (Most likely), but still tried to get me to have the work done. Not cool!!!! I decided to to just pick up my car and do he work myself. When I picked it up, they tried to charge me the $130 to diagnose the motor issue and another $130 to tell me the turn signal switch was going bad. I did not agree to that! (They did drop the second $130 after I got upset). I don't normally leave reviews, but when you feel like a business tried to scam you, it needed to be said. Do your homework and be very careful when dealing with the Murdock dealerships if this is the way they treat there customers. I have purchased my last two cars from them (New) and will not step foot back in their dealerships. Should I add the sarcastic "Merry Christmas" from the service writer as he was walking away.... Wow! More
On September 8, 2020, my son and I brought his 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport to Murdock Hyundai for possible repair. The Santa Fe began to overheat a day earlier. He found the vehicle had a coolant leak Hyundai Santa Fe Sport to Murdock Hyundai for possible repair. The Santa Fe began to overheat a day earlier. He found the vehicle had a coolant leak but was unable to locate it. I suggested taking it to Murdock since I had a good experience there when I purchased a 2020 Palisade for my wife. The experience we had with the service department was anything but good and I will never go to Murdock for any service or purchase. The Santa Fe was brought in due to overheating. A couple days later we received the attached estimate. The estimate was for the radiator, fan, and an entire engine replacement. The vehicle was never inspected and it certainly wasn’t damaged as they indicated. I have spoken to both Tyler (Service Advisor) and Shawn (Service Manager) about this but it seems they could care less. I reached out to the GM/Owner, Blake Murdock, and never received as much as a return email or call. I guess he doesn't have the backbone to answer for his company. Below is what I found: 1. Murdock Hyundai stated the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced at a cost of $5,609.92 on their original repair estimate and Multi Point Inspection Form. The engine was not damaged and it was also never inspected by Murdock according to Tyler. I have audio recordings with both Shawn and Tyler who both indicate as much. A foreman in the shop inspected the car after I complained and found nothing wrong with the engine, yet the estimate states, “engine damaged from overheating.” They never performed as much as a block test and the Multi-Point Inspection Form indicated that the fluids were ‘Checked and ok”. That wasn’t the case because it was low on coolant, due to the leak, and it was completely out of washer fluid. The low fluid indicator on the dash was even on. They also wanted to charge me $130 for the inspection which clearly didn’t happen. The engine ran fine then and it still runs fine. 2. The estimate for the radiator and fan was double billed for labor. The fan has to be removed to replace the radiator. This is a simple process of unclipping the fan, unplugging it, and removing it. It takes less than a minute to remove and replace the fan yet they wanted to charged me three (3) hours of labor for both or a total of six hours labor. The total cost for parts and labor for the radiator and fan on their estimate was $1,733.82. I’m not a Hyundai mechanic and I changed both in less than two (2) hours at a total cost of $225. 3. The vehicle has an extended warranty that could have covered some of this but we were never told until we complained about the estimate to Tyler. I feel we were being fleeced and the warranty company would question the high quote? 4. There is an open recall on this vehicle (20V520000) but we were never informed about it. Although there isn’t a remedy, we should have been told. 5. This ones the best. I picked the vehicle up and was given a bill for $130 for the inspection. What inspection? If it had been inspected then we would have been told the radiator had a leak and we would have received an estimate to replace the radiator and fan for the cost of parts and three hours of labor. The total cost for the listed repairs on the repair estimate were $7,897.64 for parts and labor that were not needed and never inspected. This total includes the double billing for labor. This type of problem starts at the top down. This, to me, appears to be a systemic problem that is borderline criminal. I honestly can’t believe the greed of this company. Who else are they doing this to? Never trust this place unless you want to get ripped off. More
Bought my car less than two months ago when the audio control unit started going out, I was told to bring it back when it was completely out and now they are refusing to fix it unless I pay for it, which control unit started going out, I was told to bring it back when it was completely out and now they are refusing to fix it unless I pay for it, which would be $1,000 out of my pocket. I have no Bluetooth, no navigation, no radio and no backup camera alerts. The used car manager, Hyrum Christensen told me he didn't care and I needed to fix my own car.... I would not recommend buying a car from this dealership, they will not do the right thing More
