Five Star Service Advisor Tracy Hall On February 1, 2017, I was gathering my groceries at Whole Foods in Colorado Springs. Upon trying to start my 2014 Lincoln MKZ, I noticed for the firs On February 1, 2017, I was gathering my groceries at Whole Foods in Colorado Springs. Upon trying to start my 2014 Lincoln MKZ, I noticed for the first time a message on the dash board display that my remote key fob had a "low battery" and should be "replaced soon". I had never experienced such an event before, and thought little of it, especially since my wife and I drive very little. [Patti is 70, and I am 69.] Later in the day, reconsidering my initial, perhaps ill-advised, reaction, I telephoned Phil Long Lincoln on Motor City Drive, and was quickly connected to Tracy Hall, the Phil Long Service Advisor who had been so helpful to me and my wife in the past. Ms. Hall quickly advised me not to ignore the dashboard computer warning about the "low battery" in my remote key fob, and that the computer knew what it was doing when it encouraged me to take care of this problem. I asked Ms. Hall if she could schedule me for a service appointment to investigate this issue, and she instantly gave me a date and time. Upon arriving at Phil Long, Ms. Hall took possession of my key remote, and my wife's. Ms. hall then subjected both remotes to testing, and found that each remote had a power reading of 1.5, when the appropriate level should be no less than 3. Ms. Hall then recommended that Phil Long install new batteries in each remote, and I quickly agreed. Ms. Hall then installed the new batteries [two in each remote], and then showed me how to open the remote to access the key inside [I never knew this!] to allow me to unlock my MKZ in case in the future the batteries in the remote died; and then to place the remote in the indentation underlying the cup holder, which would allow my MKZ's ignition to start. I am deeply grateful to Ms. Hall for taking the time to show me these emergency procedures, which I immediately demonstrated to my wife upon arriving home. We are greatly appreciative of the stellar performance of the Phil Long Lincoln team, especially in having such a fine performer as Tracy Hall, who has made owning our latest MKZ such a great experience. But for Ms. Hall, we would not know just how great the MKZ is, and how to protect ourselves in an emergency with the safety features built into our MKZ by Ford. CONCERNED, I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO PHIL LONG FORD LINCOLN IN MOTOR CITY TO DETERMINE IF THER MY 2014 LINCOLN MKZ HAD AN ICON LIGHT UP ON THE DASHBOARD. CONCERNED, I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO PHIL LONG FORD LINCOLN IN MOTOR CITY TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM. JOHN CRISP, SERVICE ADVISOR, IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED MY MKZ FOR SERVICE THAT SAME DAY. AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE SERVICE REVIEW, PHIL LONG LINCOLN DETERMINED THAT ALL THAT WAS NECESSARY WAS TO "RESET" THE SOFTWARE IN MY MKZ. JOHN CRISP AND HIS PHIL LONG TEAM SOLVED THE PROBLEM PROMPTLY, AND PUT MY MIND AT REST. I HAVE ALL CONFIDENCE IN JOHN CRISP, PHIL LONG LINCOLN, AND MY LINCOLN MKZ! More
