On Saturday October 11, 2025 I dropped my car off at Ron Bouchards Honda in Lancaster Ma. due to a transmission dashboard light on the dashboard of my 2017 Honda Pilot. I was asked to call the service depa Bouchards Honda in Lancaster Ma. due to a transmission dashboard light on the dashboard of my 2017 Honda Pilot. I was asked to call the service department back on Monday October 13 to speak with the service manager "JJ". After speaking with "JJ" he told me that the diagnosis for the transmission was that it had to be completely replaced at a grand total of $11,287.69 and that there was no repairing it. The diagnose was p084c "Line Solenoid Valve A stuck ON. p177a "Line pressure Solenoid Valve A or Line pressure switch stuck OFF. p2821 "Line Pressure switch stuck ON. They tech drained the transmission fluid and stated that there was excessive clutch material on the drain plug magnet and the fluid was extremely burnt. Interestingly enough I had just had the transmission serviced (flush and fill) not 2-4 weeks earlier at the dealership and they stated that everything looked "great" when it was completed. After hearing of the $11,287.69 bill for a new transmission I told them to not do anything with it until I got back in touch with them. I then called a few transmission shops with one laughing that he had been in the transmission business for over 30 years and had never changed a Honda transmission with 100,000 miles on it ever because they were so reliable. So I had the Honda Pilot towed from Ron Bouchards to a highly recommended transmission garage and they did their own diagnose. The codes all came up the same at the transmission garage as they were at Ron Bouchards. The difference was that the transmission garage simply changed my Line pressure Selonoid valve for less than $500.00 and the Pilot is back on the road and running perfect. I can not believe, nor will I ever give Ron Bouchards and future business after this. I could have spent over $11,000 dollars for a transmission that was not needed and had it completely fixed and running perfectly for less than $500.00 dollars. I also tried to call and talk to a representative after getting texted multiple times to call back about a customer service survey but all messages and calls went unanswered. I would advise caution when using this dealerships service department. How a $500.00 repair could be turned into an over $11,000.00 dollars transmission replacement it beyond me. BUYER BEWARE. More
I brought my 2021 honda CRV in for a check engine light. I Dropped it off late in the day. They were able to diagnose the problem get the part and repair the car by the next morning.
