I own a Ford F-150 and I paid $5,000 to the dealer because they told me I needed turbos. I didn't even get my car home and it died. Now they're telling me I need to pay $11,000 for an engine. I feel i More

When you scheduled your appointment it was for a check engine light and a lack of power, this was also the first time this truck had ever to to our service department, upon pulling the truck into the shop the technician noticed the rear of the truck was covered in oil and oil was pouring out of the exhaust. He checked the oil and found that the truck had only approximately 1 quart of oil in it , after adding 5 quarts of oil to get it to the proper operating range the technician started and drove the vehicle, there was no noise coming from the motor, and at that time we informed you that we did not know if there had been any damage done to the motor, but that you did have a significate oil leak coming from the turbos, and that they were literally falling apart. After explaining this to you, you authorized us to continue on and remove and replace the turbo's, the nec seals along with all of the lines, we then topped of the coolant and changed the oil and filter again. We also quoted you at that time a price for new converters and o2 sensors but you declined the repair. The technician then test drove the truck and it still had codes P1016 (Wastegate Control Pressure) and P0155 (02 Sensor Fault), we diagnosed the P1016 code and found that vacuum pump was seized and broken, you authorized the repair and we removed and replaced the vacuum pump assembly. We test drove the truck again clearing all of the codes and the only one the remained was P0155 with you declined the repair on. Upon you picking up the truck we again expressed to you that we do not know if there has been any damage done to to motor from you driving it with so little oil in it, there is nothing that indicates there has been, no lights, or noise, but we simply do not know. You expressed that you understood. So with all of that being said I am not sure where we failed to inform you of the possibilities that existed based on the condition of the the truck when it arrived.

We approved the work because we thought it would repair the problem. We replaced the 02 sensors, that was the decline on that. The truck was returned without oil and coolant & ford is declining any responsibility. This all seems very unacceptable!

Replacing the turbos did solve the issue of the oil leak and the lack of power, but you driving a vehicle 40 plus minutes as you did the day you brought it in, and no telling how long before that, with little to no oil or less than the correct amount as you had been, there is the potential for you to cause damage to the motor. Which we clearly stated to you that we had no way of knowing if there was damage or not. There is no oil or coolant in the truck because when the engine let go and put a hole in the block everything leaked out, you currently see on our parking lot where your truck is sitting where the remaining oil and coolant has leaked out onto the concrete. Based on the amount of oil that covered the tailgate, and the residual left even after trying to wash it off and how black the exhaust tip is, this appears to have been a problem for a while. The check engine light remained on because it required the repair of replacing both the O2 sensors and the converters, which are repairs that you declined.

I am not going with this back and forth over what was done. Regardless the vehicle did not make it back to my house. If the repairs were done correctly the oil would not of just leaked out ( 6qts. and coolant loss). You as the dealer are the professionals in this. I am a veteran and feel I have been taken advantage of thru your negligence. Trucks do not just use 6 qts. of oil just out of nowhere. I can't believe that you didn't have clue that the motor was in any way harmed, but you got my $5,000.00 correct? I stand by what I said, you took advantage of me and charged me for repairs and if I was dealer and saw oil all over the place as you stated, i would of had pictures and made phone calls before I would of even put a wrench on the vehicle. Just a reminder, you are the Professionals, not me. You are suppose to help the consumer, not take money from them and show them the door.
