After several contacts through the internet, we visited the dealership and asked for Bernardo. He patiently showed us a big selection of Sonata Hybrids. We test drove and he thoroughly explained the vehicle's finer points. After we returned to the dealership, we worked on price. He had each offer that he brought to us printed up so we could see the exact details of the "deal". Although, we did not purchase on the first visit, Bernardo remained friendly and was not pushy. We needed time to look over figures and decide what was best for us. We decided to return several days later and complete the deal on the car. When we called Bernardo to let him know we were coming, he was as friendly and caring as before. He already had the car detailed when we arrived. He had all the paper work from the first visit ready for us to finish dealing. After the price and trade-in value were finally agreed upon, we were ready for the financing portion of the deal where we met with Michael Anderson and Ryan Rios. Everything went smoothly, except where we requested in writing that the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid battery has lifetime replacement hybrid battery coverage for the original owner because it was not sstated in the glovebox owner's manual. The men scrambled and searched and made calls. When we were satisfied, we finished the deal. Vandergriff has a good team of people that work together to sell their product and get it ready. We had checked out this dealership on bbb.org prior to dealing with this company. They had an A+ rating. More

I called them on Thursday to make sure they had the sedan I wanted I went into Vandergriff Hyundai on 9/23/12 to buy a Hyundai Genesis R Spec. I called them on Thursday to make sure they had the sedan I wanted available. They said that they had 3 or 4 of them so I decided to come in on Saturday morning. The person I talked to was Philip Bergeron but he was busy with another customer which was fine. I was greeted by Maletta Larry who asked what I was looking for and I told her the specific vehicle I was looking at and wanted to test drive it. She said great what color am I looking for and I subsequently told her silver or black. She comes back 5 minutes later saying she had a great V6 I could drive. I was very clear that I did not want to drive the V6 I wanted to test drive the R Spec as it was already told to me that they had several. She said that was untrue. She kept pressing me to try to the V6 and when I told her again I did not want to do that, she told me to stop getting argumentative. This is when I mentally checked out and started asking about the price that they posted online. She told me that was with a lot of assumptions. I asked her to show me the assumptions online and she could not. She simply showed me a recklessly done excel rebate sheet. This was an awful experience and I almost gave up car buying until I contacted Van Hyundai who treated me extremely well and I ended up walking away with a GREAT (thank you consumer reports and truecar.com) deal on an R Spec. I worked with Alex Reese there and he was excellent. As for Vandergriff Hyundai and Maletta Larry I would not recommend them to anyone and I plan to file with the BBB due to bait and switch tactics. I found Bryce to be very knowledgeable about cars in general and the car I was interested in (an Accent base) in particular. The negotiating process was better than I was expecting since it had been 15 years since I bought a car, and was completed in less time than I was expecting. Chris handled the paperwork quickly and was also very knowledgeable, and he also put my mind at ease over a little snafu on my part a couple of days later. I would recommend that after a sale, people be told to keep the plastic tags on the keyless remotes since they contain the key codes to replace a lost key. I had no idea that's what it was and trashed them. Good thing there is a backup system for key codes. Overall, buying my Accent was a pleasant experience and I love the car. I would shop again at Vandergriff's and I hope my service experiences on my new car will be as good. S.Murphy More
