Well the Service at Genesis of Cumming just gets worst - Cleveland
Well the Service at Genesis of Cumming just gets worst and worst. I have been asking for Genesis mechanics on the Social Media site NextDoor, which has a few million members, and two other social media sites. Since I also build websites for HOA’s, I made posts on those. In the first three days, my post on NextDoor had received more than 3500 views. Some of the comments were about customers having horrible experiences with the Service at Genesis of Cumming. One gentleman said it became so bad that he sold his Genesis. Others thanked me for telling them which dealership to stay away from. Others said they will never purchase a Hyundai again. I have owned seven Hyundai’s, and three of those Genesis. Now to start the latest nightmare.
Genesis of Cumming has had my Genesis for more than a total of six weeks, over the course of three months, trying to learn why the light alerting you the Emergency Brake is enabled. After finally getting my Genesis back last week, I tried to have my emissions done, but my Genesis failed. The tech performing the emissions check asked if the battery had ever been drained. That was what caused the failure. The battery only once, and it occurred when the Service Dept at Genesis of Cumming had my Genesis overnight.
One of the days my car was given to me at Genesis of Cumming, it took longer than it should have. Sean, the Service Advisor, said they had a difficult time finding my Genesis. Later that day, I tried to start my Genesis after I came home from Genesis of Cumming, which is only two miles away, it would not start. When I opened the car door, none of the interior lights came on, and there was not any sound when I tried to start it. I called Sean at Genesis of Cumming, and he admitted the battery needed to be “jumped” before they gave it back to me. He should have said something so I would know to let the engine run 20-30 minutes.
Weeks later, when I was called and told my car was ready, the Service Manager, Liam, also told me I was no longer welcome at Genesis of Cumming. Liam said it was because of the time spent trying to find the reason why the emergency brake light would not turn off. It's wrong, but I can understand why they do not want to honor the Extended Warranty, but why have I always had to fight then to honor the Manufacturer’s Warranty. Why does Genesis of Cumming even sell an Extended Warranty. Throughout the last few weeks, Sean told me the claim he submitted to the warranty company was declined. However, when I contacted Trident Warranty, they said no one had called and tried to submit another warranty. Later Liam admitted why a claim was never submitted. When Sean called the warranty company, he was on hold so long that he simply hung up.
After Sean continued lying about it, I went to Genesis of Cumming so I could talk to him. When Sean first saw me there, he said “I will be with you in a few minutes Mr. Cleveland”. While I was waiting, he was very busy with other customers, so I did not say anything. After more than an hour, I called out Sean’s name. He did not acknowledge me, so I called his name a little louder. The customer he was working with turned and saw me, but Sean still did nothing. I said his name again. This time he turned and said I needed to make an appointment. Why didn’t he say that from the beginning? I had been sitting outside his office the entire time. I did not say anything else, but after Sean went into his office and sat down, he stood up, stuck his head out his door and said, “Can’t you see I’m busy”. He said this while several customers were in the Service area. I have been working with customers my entire career, 40 years, and never became angry or tried to belittle them.
The rep and Trident Warranty also told me that Genesis is one of the cars he receives a large number of claims for. If you still want to purchase a Genesis, my advice is go to another dealership, no matter how far away they might be.
