I am in Kerrville working away from my home and I started having truck trouble A day before I was scheduled to go home after Being gone a month. Cameron, after hearing my situation, along with Mr Phillip the shop foreman, proceeded to isolate and fix my engine trouble. They got on the phone with our vehicle repair maintenance department for our company and got the repairs approved and my truck fixed by the very next day! I am able to go home on time, and in time for the Easter holiday thanks to the most excellent professional customer service that happened at Ken Stoepel Ford. This caliber of service has been rare for me to find traveling around. About 50% of dealerships no matter which brand, FAILS. This dealership is the exception. Thank you Cameron and Phillip.

Be mindful of the condition your vehicle is in before their service center performs any service to your vehicle, especially if your vehicle is an older model with high mileage. This is a long read, but it may save you a lot of frustration. I have a 2007 Yukon with over 250k miles that had a motor oil change completed on it at Gateway’s service center in med-December, 2023. Not long after, I began noticing xxxxxxof oil on my driveway. This was unusual because my truck did not have any issues with any fluid leaks prior to Gateway performing the oil change. One week passed from the day the oil was changed before I was able to inspect the truck. It was clearly visible that motor oil was dripping from the motor’s oil pan drain plug. I loosened that plug and noticed metal shavings along the drain plug. I immediately contacted Gateway’s service center and was eventually able to speak with the shop foreman, Mario Montante. I explained the situation and mentioned that I wanted Gateway to inspect the oil pan, but was told that I would have to pay a service fee for them to do so. I found this to be unreasonable, especially after explaining that the motor oil leak began after it was serviced at their shop. I asked if the tech who performed the motor oil change included any notes in their service report stating that any leaks were observed prior to beginning the oil change. Mr. Montante replied that the service center would not have even begun working to change the oil if an oil leak was observed before beginning the service. Mr. Montante then confirmed that the service report did not include any notes that my truck had any leaks prior to the tech beginning the process of changing my truck’s motor oil. Mr. Montante’s solution was to only offer me pricing for the replacement parts and labor, but that I would have to cover those costs. The reasons given for Gateway not covering the costs include: my truck’s motor has over 250,000 miles; the previous motor oil change performed by their service center was approximately 50,000 miles ago; the wear and tear of my truck’s motor could have caused the oil pan drain plug to give out; that their service techs perform work to certain rules and specs; that the oil pan drain hole could have been damaged by someone else prior to their service center performing the motor oil change; and insinuating that I may be attempting fraud by trying to have Gateway cover the costs of the damage. I replied that their own service report does not mention notes about my truck having any leaks before the tech began servicing it, that same service report also does not mention damaged threads to the oil pan, and that it is highly unlikely bolt threads become stripped from wear and tear. I then asked Mr. Montante if I could speak with his supervisor. Mr. Montante said his supervisor’s name was Jerry and that he was listening to the call. However, Jerry never get on the line to speak with me and I was told he had just left the office after asking to speak with him directly. Before ending the call, Mr. Montante stated he would email the service report and summary of our call. I have yet to receive any communication from Mr. Montante. I sent an email to Mr. Montante, Jerry, and several other Gateway employees on December 22, 2023, detailing the situation and requesting that someone at Gateway contact me in order to resolve the situation. I have yet to be contacted by anyone with Gateway. I mentioned to Mr. Montante during our call that my truck is a family vehicle and relied on daily. This means I could not risk continuing to drive my truck without risking my family’s safety and damaging the motor unless immediate repairs were made because the extent of the damage to the oil pan threads was unknown. While working to find a solution, I discovered drain plug was over tightened which stripped the oil pan drain hole threads and chipped the surface of the drain hole opening. The oil filter was also over tightened.

After my service I stopped in and talked to Ken Madrid and I ended up purchasing a new car from Ken! I purchased a 2024 BX 350 Hands down Ken was excellent! Very patient and kind and not pushy. Bought 3 new cars from this dealership in Victoria Texas. This is one of 2 we purchased brand new in 2022. A month or so ago the cruise control went out. Made an appointment to get it repaired, because it was still under warranty. They had trouble taking the steering column apart, saying the air bag might not work. They claimed someone took the steering column apart and tampered with it. Now they are telling us they repaired the cruise control switch, but they found other issues (metal filings in the steering column? Paint marks on the steering column?) and that they will not warranty it because of suspected tampering. When we asked multiple times if it was safe to drive, they would not say it was. Now they are telling us we have to come and pick up the unsafe car and sign a paper stating they are not responsible for anything that happens going forward. When we asked if they were accusing us of tampering with it, the manager said no. We are the only owners. Welcome to Mac Haik customer service. (reviews are abysmal and they tend to not honor warranties regularly) They still have our car.

Very upset with service department. The manager could care less. I spent over $2k on service and they could not even get engine light to come off on my wife’s car. One excuse after another and their service agents literally just read from a computer generated service sheet. Manager is a joke and basically told me he does not what is going on and he is just there to do payroll. Your experience has forced us to never consider another Hyundai ever again. Sad that in a tough economy you are ripping people off in that service department. The quote that wins it all is last thing the agent said to us was “it is not safe to drive and tech estimates full breakdown in 1 month”. Wants us to spend another $6k on service. Buyers beware of this dealer.

Have been dealing with this dealership for awhile since moving to Houston for all our servicing needs for our Lexus ES350. They have been phenomenal each time and I have worked with different service advisors but this time I decided to write a review since the adviser I worked with, Martin M., was not only exceptional to deal with but he was truly honest about the service I needed and didn't need which I truly appreciate. Service like that is the reason I will continue to not only deal with this dealership for my service needs of the Lexus but take my family's other cars for servicing when the manufacturer's warranty expires and it comes time to decide where to service them. I see Joe Myers being the destination for my future car purchasing needs as well since I had a great experience in the past with their preowned sales division and of specific mention, Marcos. Overall, I'm a very happy customer and gracious for this dealership being so close to where I reside which played a huge part in my choice in choosing them. Def A+ and 5/5.

My new 2024 Tiguan SEL R-Line is big change from previous car trailhawk Jeep. Similar is price for new and old car. Tiguan is lighter easier to maneuver. Has better get up and go as not delayed when pushing foot on gas pedal. Just set the tire pressure at complimentary first servicing which warning signal will notify me to get air in tires. People were friendly and helped me to set up garage door opener and went thru questions on computer usage. Friendly intelligent people and good product to work with. Back seat has nice space for grown people! I am happy with my selection.

Worst experience I have had with a service department... Repair Order #6220499 A month has transpired since we dropped off our vehicle for a ticking noise from the engine. No check engine light, no misfires, fuel economy normal. The technician diagnosed it as a failed lifter. Valmark service charged my extended warranty company $10,000 for lifters and a camshaft job. First attempt at repair failed. Valmark opened a case to have GM (TAC) send another set of lifters. Second attempt at repair failed. Our vehicle went from running on all eight cylinders to being inoperable. Valmark now claims there is a "blockage" in the engine keeping oil from getting to the lifters correctly. Based on expert advice and technical guidance on the engine lubrication cycle of operations, this is highly unlikely and almost impossible that it "all of a sudden" happened after two failed attempts at repair. Note: Valmark caused the current state the vehicle is in. The dealership quoted me an engine replacement close to $15,000. Extended warranty has now denied an additional claim, stating the failure is not covered. I attempted to get them to drop the price on the engine replacement, and they could not hit the reasonable number I asked for, $10,000. Mind you, the dealership has already received the money from my extended warranty (over $10k) for the work completed that did not fix the problem. My thoughts are that this money should go towards the engine, and I should only owe $5k (seems fair). Instead, people are going to get paid, and we are left stranded. Now I have involved GM Corporate, and they have heard the situation and are happy to investigate further. I also reached out to Chevrolet technicians I know who seem to believe a mistake was made with the cam install concerning damage or improper procedures. Previous repairs by the dealership include a failed repair on an oil pan seal (still leaks), a bolt they stripped in the cylinder head they had to tap out, and claimed someone from the outside put the wrong bolt in, along with preventive maintenance, and a new transmission. In conclusion, I brought my running, well-maintained vehicle in for a noise. Valmark Chevrolet, New Braunfels, misdiagnosed and failed at two major repair attempts, costing well over $10k, and now I am forced to either pay $15k for an engine, trade it in for nothing, or try to get outside help resolving this issue. BTW, the warranty company did not cover everything with the previous failed repairs, and I owe the dealership close to $1k just to have the ticket closed and the vehicle towed away. This whole experience has greatly changed my view of the Valmark service department. All I want is our vehicle back running properly, or a reasonable replacement. Valmark Chevrolet is not there for the customer in this scenario. Waiting to hear back from GM corporate and explore other legal options as well. I will provide updates as this situation unfolds.
