I came to Upper Valley Honda genuinely ready to buy a vehicle, and the experience became one of the most confusing and frustrating car-buying attempts I’ve ever gone through. I want to be very clear about what happened so other customers understand the process I went through.
I provided everything the dealership asked for right away — ID, insurance, proof of address, and income information. I was told they were working with a bank that understood gig-worker income (DoorDash, Uber, etc.), which gave me confidence that the process would be smooth. Unfortunately, it was not.
Communication over the next several days was inconsistent and confusing. I received different explanations from different people, and every time I asked for the actual loan numbers or a clear approval breakdown, the conversation stalled. I did eventually receive what looked like a conditional bank approval, but even then, nobody could tell me the final terms, the approved vehicle, or the actual payment structure.
Several vehicles I inquired about disappeared from the dealership’s website without explanation. At no point did anyone reach out to tell me whether the vehicle was sold, reserved, or removed for financing. I was prepared to drive hours and put down a large down payment, but without clear communication or real numbers, I couldn’t move forward.
After days of waiting, following up, and trying to understand what was happening, I was suddenly told I “could not be delivered a vehicle” because my documents didn’t meet the application requirements. This made no sense, because I had already received a bank approval page earlier in the process.
The biggest issue for me was the lack of transparency. If something was missing, unclear, or needed correction, I was never given the opportunity to fix it. Instead, the communication simply broke down after multiple days of slow updates, mixed messages, and missing information.
I’m very disappointed with how the process was handled. I was fully prepared to purchase, and I did everything asked of me quickly and in good faith. The dealership’s lack of clarity and consistency ultimately made the deal impossible.
If you’re considering buying from this dealership, I strongly recommend asking for complete transparency up front — especially with financing — so you don’t end up in the same situation.
