Answers
1. I want to add a Dealer Review, what do I have to do?
In order to add a review of a Dealership, you must do the following:
  A) If you haven't already, you must register with a username and password before your review(s) will be displayed.
  B) Click on the confirmation link in the registration email.
  C) Search for the Dealer you want to review. If this Dealer is not already in the system, you can add it here.
  D) Once you have located or added your Dealer, you can submit a review using the link on the Dealer's Review page.

2. How can I change my password?
If you would like to change your password, please continue on to this page.

3. How do I retrieve my username and/or my password if I forgot it?
If you forgot your username and/or your password, please continue on to this page.

4. How can I submit other questions, comments, concerns?
For all other related inquiries, please use this form.

5. Why do I need to register before adding a dealer review?
We require you to register in order to cut down on the amount of SPAM that could create inaccurrate reviews. It is just one step out of a few automated and manual checks which, at the very least, guarantees there is a person writing the review and not just a script spamming a Dealership's ratings higher or lower. We do not sell nor distribute anything about our reviewers to anyone.

6. What do you do with the information you collect during registration?
Once we have received the information you provided to us during registration, it gets stored in our database. Your user name is visible on the Dealer Review page, but your email address is hidden, even when someone uses the Message feature. We do not sell, lease, rent or license your information to anyone. We may, however, disclose your identity if we feel it is necessary to protect our business or to satisfy any law, regulation, government request or private subpoena.

7. Does the Message Page give away my user information to the person using it?
No. The initial email and all consequent emails get routed through a DealerRater.com web page, which provides anonymity. The only email addresses on a Message Page email will be a DealerRater.com email address.

8. Do I need to register before adding a Dealer?
We do not feel it necessary to have our users register when simply adding a Dealership. We appreciate all additions and while we do hope you have experiences to share about that Dealership, the ability to just add them is open to anyone.

9. I'm having trouble getting attention from my Dealer, can DealerRater.com help?
While we wish would could directly help you solve your problem, we just don't have the man power to do it. However starting in March of 2004, Dealers are able to sign up as Affiliates and a representative(s) from each Dealer will be able respond to reviews written about their Dealership. A review that has a response from a Dealer will be designated with a special graphic link that will pop up a window where the Dealer and Originator of the review can have a discussion, much like the way a Forum works. Only the dealer and the author of the review will be able to take part in the messaging, however, everyone is able to read it.

10. Do you have "Such and Such" car on your lot for sale?
We aren't a Dealership, nor are we affiliated with one, so sorry, we do not have car "Such and Such" for sale. However, it is quite possible you can find it in our Dealer Classified Ads our our Personal Classified Ads section soon!

11. Does your site have Pop-Up Ads or SpyWare?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. You thought we were zealous about being Anti-SPAM, well we are even more so about Pop-Up Ads and SpyWare. You are safe to Disable your Google Pop-Up Blocker, and we encourage it, as the Dealer responses opens a new browser window as to not clutter up the beautiful Dealer review page.

12. What is the greatest car ever made?
McLaren F1

13. Who can write a dealer review?
Anyone who is not currently affiliated with any car dealership, or has not worked in the past 5 years for any car dealership can write a review provided he/she has had first hand experience with the dealership. An example of someone who can not write a review: Salesman A, who is an employee of Dealer A, buys a car from Dealer B. Even though Salesman A does not work for Dealer B, he can not write a review of Dealer B since he is an employee of a car dealership. Other examples of persons not permitted to write a review include spouses and immediate family members of dealership employees. A person can write a review on behalf of an immediate family member, provided all other conditions have been met.

14. What happens if someone affiliated with a dealership writes a review?
If DealerRater.com determines that someone affiliated with a car dealership has written a review, Dealerrater.com may, in its sole discretion, place a note on the dealership's review page notifying readers that someone from the dealership has not complied with our website’s Terms of Use. The dealership is also subject to being placed on the Blacklist. For each fraudulent review written, the dealership will be placed on the Blacklist for 3 months. During this period, all reviews are screened prior to being posted, all new positive reviews are delayed from being posted until the time period has expired, and the dealership forfeits their ability to respond to reviews for the duration of the time period.

15. Does DealerRater.com censor reviews?
We urge you to use proper language that is suitable for the general public. An articulate review enhances a reviewer's credibility much more than the use of profanity. DealerRater.com may, in its sole discretion, edit or remove a review if it has concerns about the authenticity, content or vulgarity. A review may be removed if it contains untrue, pornographic, illegal, inappropriate, vulgar, slanderous or libelous content or links to any other web sites containing such content (as determined by DealerRater.com in its sole discretion). Please see our Terms of Use for more information.

16. Who can respond to reviews?
The only two parties that may respond to a review are the author of the review and the dealership that is the subject of the review. A dealership must first sign up with DealerRater.com’s Dealer Affiliate program in order for this feature to be enabled on its review page.

17. What can a dealership write on the response page?
A dealership’s response is also subject to these terms of use.

18. Who can add a dealership to the site?
Anyone can add a dealership, but please search first to make sure we do not already have a dealership you are seeking to add in our database. If there is a mistake with a dealership's information, please use our Contact Form to bring it to our attention.
