Customer service There was a tire recall earlier but I guess mine were not part of that recall, but now my tire blows with less then 6000 miles on them. In any case, I There was a tire recall earlier but I guess mine were not part of that recall, but now my tire blows with less then 6000 miles on them. In any case, I was less then 1/4 of a mile from Sands Chevrolet on Waddell and Cotton. I went to change this tire and realized that Chevrolet did not issue me a lug nut key when I bought the truck, so I was unable to change the tire. I called Sands twice for help explaining that I am right down the street and I needed someone to bring me a lug nut key. I also explained I was ill with pneumonia and could not wait for to long in the cold weather. I needed help so I could get back home. Rather then running someone over to help me, they gave me a number to call a towing service. I waited two to three hours for the towing service to show up and tow my truck less then a quarter of a mile. It seemed ridicules for them to do all this when all they had to do was get me a lug nut key. So after I waiting for two to three hours, they finally towed my truck to Sands. When I got to Sands, I was told that they were very busy and may not be able to get to my truck for a few more hours. I asked for someone to take me home as I was ill and Ken agreed, but also stated that "we don't usually do the shuttle service on Saturdays" or something along those lines. So he told me to wait in the lounge while he arranged for the shuttle. After another hour or so I get a call on my cell phone from Sands. I walked over to Ken and asked if he had called. He looked surprised and stated "Oh, are you still here"? He was the one to tell me to wait in the lounge while he arranged for the shuttle. In any case, Ken informed me that I would have to pay for the tire. He stated that the blowout was from a nail and the tire was not part of the recall. So now I am hit with a 287.00 bill on top of all the waiting. In addition, it seemed strange that a nail would cause the tire to blow out completely. In most cases a nail would make the tire leak for awhile, but to have a tire blow out instantly seemed a little strange to me especially when I had these tires looked at the week prior for the recall. In addition, I understand at this point that I was very ill and wasn't happy with the overall event, but it also seemed that Mr. Ken was unconcerned with what I had to say and was very short with his responses. So after Ken informed me about the cost, I waited another hour or so for the service to be completed. All in all I left my home at 8:30 am to pick up my son and I didn't get home until 1:30 after the ordeal. I was unable to pick up my son and I did all of this on a cold morning, without a jacket and having pneumonia. It just seems that maybe Chevrolet could have stepped up to the plate and solved this issue without all the hassle. In addition, it didn't help when I had to sit there and stare at the dealership knowing that they were basically across the street and would not help me and would rather pay for a towing service then bring me a stupid lug nut key. In closing, the final price for the tire was reduced to 247.00 but it still makes me curious of how a single nail can blow out a tire instantly, especially when I had three hours to examine this tire and I never saw a nail even when I watched the tire roll up onto the tow truck.
