Gallery Junction 714-831-1226 This 1966 Mustang GT is a beautiful example that has been meticulously restored and detailed by a marque expert to award-winning standards. It is equipped with many desirable options, including the GT package, Pony interior, A-code 289 4V engine, C4 automatic, factory air conditioning, power steering, disc brakes, Rally-Pac gauges, and much more. Assembled in Fords San Jose plant and destined for the Los Angeles DSO, it was restored in the late 1990s by a Mustang Club of America judge, who finished it in the original color scheme of Candyapple red with a white vinyl top over a red interior. As offered, it is in excellent condition, with beautifully straight, date-coded sheet metal, exemplary panel fit, and high-quality paintwork. The underside of the body is equally well-presented and remains remarkably clean and tidy. It retains the correct original GT trim, including the fuel filler, rear valance with dual exhaust exits, side stripes, fog lights, GT badging, and chrome styled-steel wheels shod with period-correct 6.95-14 Goodyear white line tires. The white vinyl top sets off the looks beautifully, giving this car a uniquely upmarket yet sporty character. The factory Pony interior is trimmed in authentic materials, with the correct embossed horse motif bucket seats in superb condition. The high-spec interior includes a full-length center console, optional auxiliary Rally-Pac gauges, AM radio, seat belts, woodgrain trim, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The factory A/C unit is fully restored and detailed. Correct, high-quality materials are used throughout the interior, and the presentation reflects its past as a concours award winner. Of course, what makes the GT so special is what lies under the skin. This car is powered by an A-code 289 topped with a four-barrel carburetor and rated for 225 horsepower. It lives up to the grand touring moniker with power steering, front disc brakes, a C-4 dual range automatic transmission, and heavy-duty suspension, making for swift yet relaxed progress along your favorite roads. The engine is highly detailed, displaying correct paint finishes, decals, stencils, tags, and paint markings. Similarly, the fully-restored suspension components have accurately reproduced assembly marks and proper finishes as it would have left the San Jose plant in 1966. The restorers efforts were rewarded with a Mustang Club of America Gold Award in 2003, scoring 680 of a possible 700 points. Since then, it has been lovingly maintained and enjoyed on the road, and it remains in excellent condition and is ready to enjoy to the fullest, whether out on the show field or cruising the open road.
