1969 Ford Mustang

1969 was the first year the Mach 1 name ever appeared on a production Mustang, and Ford introduced it into one of the most competitive performance car markets Detroit had ever seen. That year, buyers could also choose the Boss 302, Boss 429, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT500. The Mach 1 outsold every single one of them. It moved 72,458 units in its first year alone, nearly a quarter of all Mustang sales, and Ford's response was to kill the GT model entirely the following year because the Mach 1 had made it irrelevant. The leather wrapped steering wheel, glove box clock, Sunpro oil pressure gauge, and back window vent covers are all present and add to the character of a car that has been put together with care. Pinstripes run along the sides and rear, a chrome front bumper and black underlip finish the exterior, and silver wheels round out a car that looks sharp from every angle.
