Seller's Comments

1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 for sale! Motorcar classics is pleased to present this 1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce (GTV) offered here finished in Verde Pino with a cognac interior, VIN #AR3022761 with engine #AR01500 05843, presents as a well-documented, low-mile example with just 70,646 miles. Built in August 1973 and sold new that November in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, this GTV has spent much of its life garaged and carefully preserved, showing an unrestored but solid chassis. Its mechanical history is exceptional, highlighted by a full engine rebuild completed in 2005 at 62k miles, which included refinishing the block and head, replacing timing chains, valves, conrod bearings, and clutch, adding performance cams and a chrome header, and fitting a high-compression piston set. The drivetrain was fully resealed and a radiator re-core performed. The car originally ran Weber 40 DCOE carburetors but has since been returned to the correct OEM carburetor setup for proper originality.

Subsequent enthusiast owners, many long-term Alfa and vintage car collectors, continued to refine and maintain the vehicle. Work has included a GTA-style grille (original included), GTA-style 15'' wheels, upgraded Bilstein shocks and GTV springs, 7'' Hella European headlights, electronic ignition, a new exhaust system, rebuilt driveshaft, stainless brake lines, and Ferodo pads with new rotors. In recent years, further updates included cross-drilled brake rotors, a new clutch slave cylinder, electric fuel pump, refreshed fuel system, fresh ignition components, and new choke cable. Service receipts are documented in a binder accompanying the car.

Today, this Alfa stands as a striking driver-quality GTV with tasteful period-style upgrades and a fresh, properly rebuilt motor, showing just under 71k believed-original miles. Its history of mature enthusiast ownership, strong mechanical record, and recent servicing make it an ideal candidate for spirited driving or as a dependable entry into Alfa Romeo?s legendary driving experience. Your inspection is invited!
