Porsche Palm Springs is proud to present this exceptional Pre-Owned 1973 Porsche 911E Targa, finished in original Signal Yellow over a Black interior with heritage houndstooth inserts. One of only 1,055 Targas built for the model year and the product of a concours-level restoration by CPR Classic among the most respected Porsche marque specialists in the country this is a 911 that checks every box collectors of long-hood F-Series cars look for: last year of the body, last year of the model, last year of Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection. The 1973 model year marked the absolute end of an era for the 911. After this, Porsche permanently changed the body style and discontinued the 911E entirely. Finished in its rare and original Signal Yellow, this Targa was delivered new through Continental Porsche/Audi of Tucson, Arizona fully documented from day one with its original window sticker. Period-correct details include a brushed silver Targa band and polished Fuchs alloy wheels from the original G26 option group, complemented by through-the-grille driving lamps and H4 headlight upgrades over the factory sealed beams. A subtle muffler skirt a nod to the four-cam 356s is easily removable for owners who prefer factory presentation.Inside, the cabin reflects a thoughtful, modern-classic build. Reproduction sport seats finished in Black with heritage houndstooth inserts replace the factory comfort seats, while Black German silverknit carpet anchors the floors. The factory rear seats have been deleted in favor of a reproduction of factory option 9282 the ''luggage platform instead of standard rear seats, Targa'' a documented Porsche factory option from the F-Series era providing lockable storage and a flat load surface ideal for extended touring. A rebuilt Targa top, rebuilt gauges, reupholstered touch surfaces, and new door pockets complete the refresh.Engine and Performance: At the heart of this 911E sits its numbers-matching 2.4-liter air-cooled flat-six paired with the desirable 5-speed manual gearbox also matching. The ''E'' stands for Einspritzung, German for ''injection,'' denoting the Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) system Porsche reserved for its top-tier models. Mid-1973, Porsche transitioned to K-Jetronic CIS to meet U.S. emissions regulations, making full MFI cars the most coveted among collectors more mechanical character, higher injection pressure, and a driving experience entirely distinct from anything that followed. The engine was fully rebuilt during the CPR Classic restoration in 2011, and the transaxle, suspension, and brakes were all refreshed during the same effort.Key Features: Original Signal Yellow Paint: Rare and visually striking, documented from new. Concours-Level Restoration by CPR Classic: Foremost Porsche marque specialists. Numbers-Matching 2.4L MFI Engine & 5-Speed Gearbox: Last year of Bosch MFI. Original Window Sticker Included: Documents factory MSRP and full options from new. G26 Option Group: S trim, heated rear glass, anti-roll bars, S instruments, A/C, and Fuchs wheels. Koni Dampers: Original factory-optioned suspension upgrade. Reproduction Sport Seats: Black with heritage houndstooth inserts and German silverknit carpet. Factory Option 9282 Reproduction: Documented F-Series Targa luggage platform in place of rear seats. Rebuilt Targa Top & Gauges, Through-the-Grille Driving Lamps, H4 Headlights. This 1973 Porsche 911E Targa is the embodiment of the long-hood 911 in its final, most collectible form last year of the body, last year of the model, last year of MFI. Available at Porsche Palm Springs, this Signal Yellow example represents a rare opportunity to acquire a properly restored, fully documented F-Series Targa from one of the most respected restoration houses in the field.
