Why We Acquired This Vehicle
ALPINA was a registered automobile manufacturer rather than a tuning house - a company in Buchloe that took partly built BMWs and finished them to its own engineering. It did that for more than fifty years, and at the end of 2025 ALPINA Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH ceased to exist as an independent entity, with the brand passing to BMW. Cars like this one come from the closing chapter of that story.
The B8 Gran Coupe is the most complete thing the company built. Its 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 612 horsepower and 590 lb-ft - more torque than an M8 Competition - and because ALPINA declined to fit a speed limiter, it runs to 201 mph rather than stopping at 155.
What makes this particular car unusual is that it is the rare ALPINA specified to be noticed. The build sheet records a total of $155,895 against a $139,900 base, and the two largest options on it are a matte Individual paint and a carbon fiber roof - the two most visually committed things BMW offered, on a car from a company whose entire character was understatement.
