My Experience Purchasing 2010 BMW X5 4.8L Last year this time my wife and I purchased 2010 BMW X5 4.8L SUV from Marietta Luxury Motors. We compared pricing using cargurus.com and other online Last year this time my wife and I purchased 2010 BMW X5 4.8L SUV from Marietta Luxury Motors. We compared pricing using cargurus.com and other online tools. We scheduled a test drive with salesman and went to go check out the SUV. Our salesman was new and not very knowledgeable about the SUV. During the test drive we noticed that some of the equipment wasn't in the SUV that was listed on the cargurus.com or MLM websites (Navigation, Bluetooth, etc.). We also noticed some errors on the Xdrive display (problem with passenger seat/airbag). MLM did try and put most of the things in the SUV that we asked about from the website, but these things are minor in comparison to the other issues that you can run into with a used BMW with (V8) engines. After some research we found out that used V8 BMWs approaching 100k miles can start to blow white smoke from the tail pipes. You would start to notice this when stopped at a corner, stop sign, street light, or maybe parked idling. This is from a Valve Stem Leak. This repair can cost you from $2000 to $5000. (MLM refused to make this repair) This is good information for other consumers who may not know anything about BMWs, but would like to own a used one. I would also be careful when selecting third party Repair Service Warranties like Endurance Auto Warranty. They will avoid trying to pay for things like this and leave you with the bill.
