My vehicle cut off on me while driving Friday, January 22nd. The battery and check engine light came on and I could not crank the car back up. My husband pushed it to a shopping center and I had it towed to Akins Ford in Winder (of which I have been a repeat customer for years) to be serviced. The service department at Akins Ford in Winder put me and my family through an extreme inconvenience for over a week due to their lack of care and concern, specifically from service advisor Scott Tackabury. Mr. Tackabury displayed a great amount of unprofessionalism and inadequacy in customer service skills. He also disregarded the COVID-19 pandemic and did not wear a mask during any of our interactions. The completion of repairs on my vehicle was scheduled to be on Wednesday, January 27. Mr. Tackabury informed me that I would be able to return and pick up my vehicle on that evening. Prior to that conversation, he failed to mention that he would be taking that day off, preventing my vehicle from being serviced due to the fact that no other service advisor had information on my vehicle. He also did not inform me that, the part that was ordered for my vehicle’s repair had not even been shipped at that point. Because Mr. Tackabury was not working that day, no further details could be conveyed to me on the status of my vehicle or the parts needed to repair it. Akins Ford in Winder dropped the ball on communicating with me, my husband and Scott Tackabury to make sure they stuck to their word on having my repaired vehicle returned to me on the day agreed upon. This could have been avoided ahead of time and remedied during the incident. The following day when Scott returned back to work, I received a text message (from another employee named Norma) informing me that my car was finally ready for pick up. Upon arrival, I was informed that all repairs to my vehicle had been completed and there were no other issues. I cranked up my car and turned on the AC/Heat and the car completely cut off. The battery and check engine light came on again. It was not fixed. Mr. Tackabury informed me that the A/C compressor is bad and in order to allow my vehicle to operate without it, he needed to remove the relay so my car wouldn’t turn off once I pressed the AC button. Instead of apologizing for demonstrating a complete oversight of another problem with my vehicle, he said I would need more repairs and would have to come out of pocket to receive another service. He told me the AC Compressor was the only problem with the vehicle at this point. Scott declined assisting me and my husband with immediate services on the vehicle and told us nothing more could be done for us except to buy another part and pay again for more services. Mr. Tackabury refused to reach out to the service Manager Jason Setser or Assistant Service Manager Brandy Hayes, to resolve the issue my husband and I faced at this point. Scott displayed a lackadaisical attitude toward the predicament that we faced and refused to offer any assistance for our extreme inconvenience. The following morning Scott called me and told me there were actually MORE repairs that needed to be made on my vehicle and that it would be another $1,400 to fix everything. At this point I was beyond infuriated with Akins Ford as a company and Scott Tackabury. My husband and I were baffled by his display of an egregious lack of communication, incompetence, negligence and disregard for our tremendous inconvenience despite being loyal customers. More

I'm not as dumb as I look! I took my company work truck in for a simple flat repair. After being told that it would be a 1/2 hour to repair the tire, I agreed to wait. After an hour of waiting the truck had not moved from where they had parked it. I asked the service writer if she could build a fire under the shop people because I needed to get back to the job site. She responded that they were waiting for a lift that would lift a 1 ton truck. Since when do you need a lift to remove 1 tire!!! At the 2 hour mark, the service writer brought me the #10 screw that been in the tire and said that the tire was repairable, which was bull!! The screw was 3" from the side wall. Long story short they where trying to get me to buy tires. I took the tire to another shop to only find out that the tech at Akins had ruined the tire with his attempt to repair the tire. I will never darken their door again! This was my 2nd visit to this dealership. The 1st was for a oil change that took 2 hours with an appointment. More

Great sales experience horrible service!!!!!! My wife and I had a great car buying experience when we bought her 2017 Explorer. It couldn't have gone much better. On the flip side the Service department is definitely lacking. My wife ran over something in the road and blew out a couple months after purchase. I removed the tire and took it to them for a replacement. I could not have had a more difficult time getting help. I went through 4 people and finally spoke to someone who "helped" me. It got worse from there. He ordered the tire but when she stopped to have it put on it wasn't ready like I was told it would be. I didn't expect the tire to be covered under warranty but I also didn't expect to have to pay twice the price of the competitor to put it on. I guess that's what I get for trusting that I wouldn't get taken advantage of. That's the last service they will do for our two Ford family. Do yourself a favor and drive by when when looking for service on your vehicle to anywhere but Akins Service department. More

He came and talked to me to give me updates when my car was being serviced too. I have had 4 recalls and one oil tire rotation service done at Akin. I was able to talk with the service rep assigned to my car. Usually I find they just take the vehicle and do what ever then you pay ...done. Not at Akin! They are polite and check back with you periodically. The waiting area has complimentary drinks and computer area for you to use. I noticed many people were working on computers as they got car service done. Bathrooms are big and clean as well. I always have had a great service experience at Akin and will buy my next car there. We have been impressed with the phone communication as we go through the recalls on all 3 of our Dodge vehicles. Akin people have made it easy to stay in touch as we waited for airbags to become available Very impressive. Thank you. More

Called Akins told be 2 weeks to even look at car. Took to actual dodge dealership and problem was fixed in a day. My husband took to Akins for tire rotation and tires were roated differently than usual. Then I drive to work next day and feels like riding rough. Every time I hit a bump or any line in road my back ends sways. Feel in driver seat and also passenger feels riding. Very noticeable especially when car has been riding like a dream till they touched it. Never could feel a bump in road cause it normally rides so smooth. Not now. Now my car is at Akins after another 2 week wait to look at and being told they can't fund a problem. Classic for Akins. Husband went by to check in car after all day of no call to let us know of anything. Jeff Akins wouldn't even come out to speak but to say he couldn't help tires. Sure that's not the problem when only 20,000 miles on new 2014 challenger. More

It was an endless cycle of phone calls and leaving voice mails, and rarely getting to speak to a live person. Even my own insurance company wasted one morning sending me to get an estimate 30 minutes away, instead of telling me that the at fault party was supposed to handle it. I stopped by Akins for an estimate, and Keith (sorry, don't see him in the list of employees) was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction with handling the insurance. It still took a while to deal with the insurance, and I called Keith a few times with questions. He was always courteous and professional. Finally, I got my car in to be repaired, and when Keith called me, a little over a week later, to tell me the car was ready, I should have known something was up when he said he wanted to see my face when I picked up my car. I will just say that Akins, and especially Keith, went above and beyond in taking care of my car, and I am more than happy! In addition to the repair work, they even washed my car before I picked it up! Thank you, Akins! More
