Mr. Yan, I apologize if you feel that we have not done anything to help you smog your vehicle. On 8/27/18 you brought your vehicle (which you did not buy from, nor service with us) in with the concern of not passing its smog inspection on 8/20/18. You provided us the Smog Check Inspection report that showed two items “NOT APPLICABLE”, the Air Injection System and the EGR system. We explained to you that your particular 2017 Audi A4 does NOT have either of these systems on the car and the Smog Centers you have been to have the ability to sign off on this using a waiver provided by the State of California. There wasn’t a need to bring your vehicle into our dealership based off the information you provided us. We went as far as contacting the local San Bernardino, California Smog Referee Station and even made an appointment on your behalf to help you resolve this matter. Again, there is NOT a need to bring your vehicle to the dealership to resolve this matter, it will be resolved once you meet with the California Smog Referee on September 21st at 8:00 am, which was the first available appointment locally. Regarding your registration being blocked, the California DMV gives you plenty of time to register and smog your vehicle, so I’m sure this will be ample time to resolve. Please keep in mind, our responsibility to our customers is to provide them answers and resolutions and primarily, to repair cars and honor the manufacture warranty when applicable. In this case you may not like the answers or resolution we have provided, but at this stage this is what needs to be done, we cannot re-engineer the car or change the California State Smog Regulations. Hi Conrad Thanks for your reply. First of all, I would like to clarify all the services (first and second maintenances) were finished by your dealership; you can check from your record. Second, 8/27/18 was not my first time to visit your dealership for this issue. The first time I went, you guys didn’t even look at the car. Adrian told me, you guys cannot do anything for this and asked me to drive more or go to another smog station. Ok, then I spent 2 weeks to drive the car and this time it’s been driven for 600 miles after the second maintenance, which I did from you guys. I went to the second smog check station and did the smog check. It failed again with the same problem. On 8/27/18. I took a vacation day off and went to your dealership because of this issue. Erik gave me the same answer and he said I could change another smog check station and ask them to exempt the issue. Ok, then I directly went to the third smog check station and asked them to exempt it. They said the only monitor they can exempt is EVAP monitor rather than others. At that time, I am tired with this problem. I asked them to print out the detail of the smog report. I FOUND OUT the EGR is not complete. Then THE TECHNICIAN FORM SMOG CHECK STATION PROVIDED ME the information of Referee Station!!!! He HELPED ME to CALL the referee together to explain the issue. We got the same answer OBDII not ready is not the reason the referee can exempt!! And all three technicians from different smog check stations suggested me to bring the car back to Audi because this is not an old car, it won’t take that long to active the computer. Then I came back to Audi on the same day on 27th and explained everything to Erik and PROVIDED THE REPORT AND CONTACT INFORMATION OF REFEREE STATION TO ERIK!!!!!. Then he finally realized that my Audi A4 doesn’t have EGR??? What??? If that is the reason why you guys didn’t tell me on my first and second visit? Why should I go to 3 different smog check stations and follow the answer to drive more? I had to find the cause by myself because you guys didn’t even take time to look at the car and test the car. You guys couldn’t find the cause during my first and second visits. The following day on 28th, I just received the email from Eric with the reservation with the referee who I already called with the technician from the smog check station. The referee said they couldn’t exempt “OBDII is not ready”. Did you guys really talk with the referee? Conrad, I feel sorry for your dealership that you guys treat customers in such a way. I 100% don’t know the car better than you guys, but finally, I had to find the problem by myself and spent time and money on it. I feel so bad you guys didn’t even look at the car. I went to your dealership 3 times with irresponsible answers! Right now, the problem is still here!!! I feel so bad for all 2017 A4 customers who bought cars from you guys because if they want to pass the smog check they have to go through what I did. 1. You guys didn’t look at my car at my first time visit with irresponsible answers. 2. Same irresponsible answers at my second time visit. 3. I spent time and money to find out the cause by myself and because you guys didn’t take look at my car; you cannot find the cause. 4. I provided the report and contact info of the referee. You guys didn’t even mention there is a place called referee station at my all three visits. 5. The referee already said they couldn’t exempt “OBDII is not ready” 6. I didn’t buy the car from you guys. But all the services were finished by your dealership. 7. The problem is still here!!!!! Tianyi
