Upon asking if I could place a larger deposit to reserve the vehicle till my flight in for the test drive I was told: “You can do up to $5k on a debit or credit card. You can probably do around $2k a couple weeks before your arrival date.” I agreed with his suggestion with my flight booked for 4 weeks away. When I reached out 2 weeks prior to my flight to place my deposit I was told the vehicle was sold by another salesperson. Seems like there is minimal communication between staff. In hindsight I should have just placed the larger deposit since it’s refundable but I don’t understand why a dealer would even recommend waiting to place a deposit if buyer is interested in placing. More
