🚨 BAIT AND SWITCH WARNING: UNADVERTISED FEES & SAFETY ISSUES 🚨 AutoHeaven in Chantilly is using deceptive online pricing as bait to lure buyers to their lot, only to force a massive hidden dealer pro ISSUES 🚨 AutoHeaven in Chantilly is using deceptive online pricing as bait to lure buyers to their lot, only to force a massive hidden dealer processing fee at the sales desk. I saved screenshots and PDFs of the entire listing on their website; they explicitly advertised a 2011 Ford Ranger Regular Cab (VIN: 1FTKR1AD6BPA60042) for $8,495 with absolutely ZERO disclosure of additional fees. When I arrived from Philly, cash in hand, to buy the truck at the published internet price, they flatly refused to honor their own advertisement. We had conducted a safety inspection, which revealed a dangerous backlog of deferred maintenance: the truck immediately needs a 4-wheel brake and rotor replacement, front wheel bearings, lower control arm bushings, and it has hacked, un-insulated aftermarket wiring rigged up to both the front and rear lights (which was apparently done by this dealer because it had failed inspection for not having front/rear lights, and this is how they "fixed" it to get it to pass). Because of these upfront repair costs, AutoHeaven initially agreed to a $400 reduction on the truck ($8,095 base). Then, they slapped on an unadvertised $995 "dealer processing fee" driving the total price up to $9,490! They referred to a sign on the wall (which, of course, I could not see from 200 miles away when I was home looking at the price on their website) stating that the "dealer processing fee" was $995. They used the hidden $995 processing fee to completely erase the discount and claw back double the money. When I pointed out that forcing a fee entirely omitted from an online ad explicitly violates Virginia Code § 46.2-1581(8) and 24VAC22-30-30 (which mandate that all terms, conditions, and processing fee amounts must be clearly and conspicuously displayed in internet advertisements), management openly dismissed the law. They arrogantly claimed that "everybody knows they have to pay a processing fee," asserting that an out-of-state consumer should blindly guess both its hidden existence and its exact $995 magnitude without any web disclosure. I offered to pay their full advertised price of $8,495 all-in (structuring the order as $7,500 base + $995 fee to satisfy their showroom rules while honoring the ad), but management refused to sell the vehicle unless I paid their $9,090 bait-and-switch total. We walked away. This used car dealer relies on the assumption that once you travel a long distance, you will succumb to high-pressure junk fees. Check the photos, check the VIN, and avoid this non-compliant lot. Formal complaints have been filed with the Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Board (MVDB), Fairfax County Consumer Affairs, and the Virginia Attorney General. Absolute textbook predatory dealer tactics. Avoid. More

We didn't get a phone call to cancel the appointment or even a heads up that the truck might be sold. Rotten way to do business. The parking lot looking like a shady chop shop should have been our first clue More
