I have been very fortunate to have discovered ATHANS to work on my cars. I have 2 very particular vehicles ( a 1993 Mercedes 600 12 v and a 1968 280 SE Mercedes). I live in Rogers Park (Chicago) and what brought me to Morton Grove was the manner in which the service manager (Billy) promptly returned a call made one day in regards to putting a transmission on my 600. He gave me a great price ( I had 6 estimates), an above and beyond warranty (2 years!) but what really sold me was the way in which Billy spent the time explaining all the options. While not the best price (it was close) it was the best attempt to build a trust. And that was done. It's now been 2 years and while it might be out of my way,it's worth every minute that takes me to a place where I can depend on quality service,attention to details and a real interest in getting the job done-and done the right way. The staff is always friendly, the techs are knowledgeable,the facility is clean and comfortable. My car cost $135,000 in '93. I will spend whatever it takes to make it work the right way-now and 20 years from today. At the same time, I don't have "Mope" stamped on my forehead (which is why I left my former mechanic-I use to be a person,then I became a human cash station. I've also given up tasty bagels at the local dealer because I was getting this every time I would come in for an oil change: Says the "service rep", "...you know before we do the oil change I would recommend that you take care of the other 7 problems we discovered that should be repaired immediately." Ok.How many bagels can I eat for $7400.00?). When you find an honest place, you go back. You tell your friends. You make recommendations to the owners (c'mon guys-get your loaner program on wheels again) but most important-you drive off confident that the best people did the best job. Athans still provides the great service that they have always provided but now they have increased the prices, or at least it seems like they have. It is much better to bring a higher priced car in for se always provided but now they have increased the prices, or at least it seems like they have.
