I contacted the dealer about a car I wished to purchase and all it seemed to be going well. I was sent a sales and trade-in quote and agreed to purchasing the vehicle over the phone with the sales man. I s and all it seemed to be going well. I shared from the start, and on numerous occasions that I would have to travel in from out-of-state. I made arrangements to come down, and after questioning the sales tax, the 'finance manager' called. They wanted to know why I thought the tax was wrong. Well, purchase price minus trade in left the price owing as ~$2000 but they wanted $500 in taxes, which would be 25%. Unheard of anywhere. I was then told they would waive the tax, after much conversation in the background? I agreed and confirmed I'd be down the next day. Not even 15 minutes later, I the 'finance manager' called to inform me that someone else had an appointment that night to see the car and they were giving me a courtesy call just in case it would sell but they had no guarantee. Now, yes, how nice, but I'd already made non-refundable reservations to travel and agreed verbally to purchasing the vehicle. I would have happily made a deposit, if they'd asked, but 'they don't do that'. They KNEW I had to travel from out of state to get the car so now, I am out travel expenses. Why would you work with someone over the course of 2 days to the point of an agreement to purchase if you can sell the vehicle out from under them especially knowing travel reservations were happening and telling me "oh, we work with out of state buyers all the time." Well - not this individual and I hope others who think to buy from out of state 1. pay close attention to the sales tax they attempt to charege and 2. just don't do business with them. More

They lie and misled us. My daughter really needed a car. Otherwise I was ready to walk out. I should have. Don’t have much to say nice about them and will never go back. I always thought once car on the lot everything had been checked out and repaired. On Monday car was 12,299 on Thurs 13,299. They said they could not budge on price since corporate sets price. Claimed they realized back up camera needed repaired that’s why price increase. I questioned immediately why cars broken windshield not replaced? Why would it be on the lot ready for sale? Salesman said windshield guy would be there end of the week. When we were encouraged to come in Thurs night because he could work on price, etc. All week we said Friday afternoon. I was ready to walk out. Didn’t care that they said it could be sold. However, my daughter really needed a car since hers was broken down and she was in a rental. I have a special needs Grandson and is ok to be alone for awhile but once it gets dark we knew we had to leave. My daughter picked him up and came back. Dealership stayed open late and just wanted to sell that car and didn’t care. I’m mad at myself for staying only because of our car situation. I sure hope this car doesn’t give us trouble and after reading reviews, it could easily be a lemon. BTW we had to pay for a new windshield $410.76. If auto nation fixed it, price would increase again. The car should have been sold at original price not $1,000 more 3 days later. We took off the inside detailing to get price down. I originally had an issue with service on a long standing issue. Mike, the service manager, absolutely went above and beyond. He made everything right and built trust. A lot of PROS in our experience at AutoNation. Jeffrey (our sales associate) was helpful and knowledgeable, the lobby was comfortable (I needed to attend a meeting from there- no problem), and th Jeffrey (our sales associate) was helpful and knowledgeable, the lobby was comfortable (I needed to attend a meeting from there- no problem), and the finance person didn't badger us to purchase this and that coverage. The only CON would be the "Theft Protection" and "Finish Protection" extras that apparently are automatically put on every vehicle. I would have been happier to just have $1,500 added to the purchase price rather than working it in using "packages." Still, and of day I feel good about the price we paid and the amount given for our tradein. More
