I brought my Escape in intact, left without. the undercarriage shield. I day before I took in the Escape for recall work, I drove my wife to the Eye Surgeon. On the way we heard a clicking sound the undercarriage shield. I day before I took in the Escape for recall work, I drove my wife to the Eye Surgeon. On the way we heard a clicking sound on the freeway. When we arrived, I crawled around and "under" the car looking for the cause. I found something on the inside of the driver's side tire. Not knowing if it was a stone or nail, I left it in. It came out on the way home. The next day on the way to AutoNation, my wife backed her car out first from the garage. I stood there looking as she backed out and there was nothing hanging down. We dropped the car off and came back around 3pm to pick it up. My wife left about 5 minutes before I did. I caught her at home pulling into the driveway and saw something hanging down. When I checked, the undercarriage shield was destroyed and hanging down. I could find no way to refasten it, as the rivets had been ripped out, so I taped it up. Called James and came in at 7am the next day. The shield could not be refastened but only replaced. The offer was I pay for a new shield and they would not charge labor. That is unacceptable as I did not damage the shield. My guess it was done by the lot attendant. If I would have damaged the shield, I would have had it looked it at the time of the recall work. I will see how the Dealership responses to this review. If replacement is not an option, I will pursue further with Ford. This was a hard review. If just for the Recall work I guess it would be a five. But the technician must have seen how damaged the shield was and instead of noting it on the invoice I should have been called. Unless the temporary fix was to have maybe bought some time that I was the cause of the shield the next time it dropped down. More
