When we arrived, we were suddenly told that they couldn’t sell that car to us because it smelled like smoke. we were understandably upset. The salesman then told us they had another car, and we test drove it, and a few other cars, and kind of settled on one car, and began negotiating. at some point, I left for a few minutes. During my absence, the salesman told my wife to sign the papers for the sale. She told him she was not going to do that without me present, and he rudely yanked the papers out of her hand, and then went to look for me. When I told him I’d like them to change the brake rotors and pads in order to make the sale (they were half worn out per the inspection measurements), the salesman brought over his (young) manager Tony, who somewhat snootily insisted he was NOT going to change the pads. When he left, I indicated to the salesman that I was not going to purchase the car, and the salesman then got the manager to agree to replace the pads. After a week of not hearing from them as promised for them to schedule getting the pads and rotors replaced, I called them, and had a hard time arranging for the pad replacement, and then drove all the way to Chandler when it was scheduled, and waited 4 hours or so, only to be told by Brian that they discovered that they didn’t have the parts. So a round trip, and half a day wasted ! then I had to drive back again the following weekend for them to be replaced - again, waiting around for hours, even though I had an appointment. The excuse for the long wait on both visits was “we’re very busy”. We then noticed, after having a car for a few days, that it began to stink strongly of cigarette smoke. so I feel they must’ve sprayed some thing inside the car to just TEMPORARILY hide the smoke smell from the previous owner. it also wasn’t until days after the sale, at home when we noticed a burn hole in the driver seat. Spraying Odoban around on the seats and floor did not help the odor. Fast forward several months and I’ve looked under/around the Front tires due to some noise when turning the tire, and I noticed that the sway bar rubber boots are torn in half on both front wheels. We had always driven this car very gently, so I suspect it had to be in that condition at the time of sale, and they either didn’t notice it (which is bad!) or, even worse- they DID notice it and decided to do nothing about it before selling the car. so now I’m on the hook to have 2 new swaybar links installed and probably an alignment needed afterwards . I also discovered that the front wipers are not original Honda ones, which I think is shocking that a Honda dealer would not replace with genuine Honda ones before selling. On top of all this, the car would not start last week and reported a brake system issue, and then stopped reporting that error, and then started saying that all the systems were failing. We had similar problems on our Honda pilot in the past, which a battery replacement fixed, so I went to Arrowhead Honda, telling them my battery tester showed the battery as defective , but they told me even though the battery says 100 month warranty, unless I bought the battery directly from them, since the car original warranty time/mileage has ended, they can’t do anything for me. So I had to buy a new battery at Costco and install it, which cleared up all the errors . In all, a very unpleasant experience from purchase to today’s date, so I do NOT recommend this dealership at all. I honestly am shocked that Honda allows an AutoNation dealership to call themselves a Honda dealership, with the quality of product they are selling, and the bad customer service. More
