I dropped off my car for a standard oil change. Jason, service advisor, called me a few hours later to tell me I needed a brake service. He stated that I had 0.1 mm of wear left on the brake pads. He stated that they were dangerously low and was very persistent in having me authorize the service. I declined since I didn't have the money. When I picked up the car, I noticed that I had over 4.0 mm remaining and they did not need to be replaced. These brakes would have lasted for another few years. I don't mind paying for repairs that are needed. I also don't mind paying for preventive maintenance. But I have a problem with someone lying and trying to cheat me for a service that isn't required.
