Dealership service staff are professional, polite, knowledgeable. These qualities engender trust. I have a suggestion for South Austin Autonation as the customer auto service waiting area and offices are being remodeled: please add a formal waiting area out in the fresh air under the trees. This would involve some sort of pavers and comfy outdoor furniture, and routine fumigation for ants. I am immune compromised, I prefer to sit outdoors unmasked, I read while I wait for my car to be repaired. I prefer this over the noisy-two tv’s air conditioned space. For my 5k, I did not enjoy it. They "checked" the fluids, but after they returned the car, I checked them just outside the building, and some fluids were low. Dropped my car off for an oil change and a recall notice at 10:30 a.m. for an 11:00 appointment, told service advisor i'd be back to pick it up in a few hours, service advisor made no objection. Returned to pick up the car at about 2:30 p.m., was told by service advisor that the car was not done. waited about 15 minutes for the service advisor to go to the shop to check on the status. Upon his return, the device advisor informs me that the oil change was almost done, but that the recall must be done by a certified technician and that they were short of these on that day. we waited about another 1/2 hour for the oil change to be done, and decided to reschedule the recall repair after the advisor told me that he thought they could get that done by end of day. At this point i had questions about the credibility of these folks.... More

The bottom line is communication and customer service was practically non-existent. I arrived at 0910 for my 0920 appt, i was not checked in until 0950 after initially being assigned to the incorrect service practically non-existent. That tech, after looking up my appt said “your appt is with Efrain” and walked off. No, “I will get him for you” or “sorry about that”. There was construction and I understand that could cause delays but not one person acknowledged or apologized for the wait. I was told my service, an oil change and 60K inspection, would take 2hrs, so I expected 3hrs. I got there at 9:10a and left at 1:35p. I got the text that my car was ready at 1241. I went to find Efrain’s desk. The text said 1st on the left but that is If you enter from the door on the right. I entered from the door on the left. I stood there for a moment then walked all the way around the room, obviously looking for someone. Not one of the at least 10 people in the room acknowledged me or offered assistance, like “hey, who are you looking for?” I found his desk, he was on the phone for a good 3 minutes. He did not acknowledge that I was waiting, no “I will be right with you” or “apologies for the delays”. Once I paid he pointed me outside. My car was not there. I walked around the parking lot and building. I asked another tech where the completed cars were parked and that I did not see mine. He continued walking past and said “they are parked in random places”. not offering any help. I went back inside, told Efrain my car was not there. He said yes it is, right out there and pointed. When he went outside with me, he couldn’t find it either. He went off to look and then drove past me in another car and yelled out the window that someone would bring it right to me. After I waited another 10 minutes outside, I walked around looking for my car and saw a tech parking it at the other end of the lot. He took the keys inside so I went in again to get my keys. They were on Efrain’s desk so I took them and left. I got the very clear message that I was not a valued customer. I also got the sense that the service team would rather be anyplace else than there. Lots of heads down, rushing around (or the opposite-on their cell phones). More
