This experience deserves to be shared because it reflects a complete lack of respect for a customer’s time. I expressed interest in a Tesla listed by AutoSavvy and, within minutes, received both a phone c a complete lack of respect for a customer’s time. I expressed interest in a Tesla listed by AutoSavvy and, within minutes, received both a phone call and a text from the dealership. I explained that before making the drive, I had a few questions. I wanted to know whether the vehicle could be inspected by an independent mechanic or Tesla, and I also wanted to understand what extended warranty options were available for the EV and exactly what those warranties covered. I was told that it would be best to come in and discuss everything in person, and that Michael would be ready to answer all of my questions. We scheduled an appointment for June 25 at 2:30 p.m. Between the initial contact and my appointment, I received two phone calls and exchanged 12 text messages with someone from the dealership. Whoever it was encouraged me to come a little early if possible, while assuring me it would still be fine if I arrived a little later. An hour before my appointment, I received another reminder confirming that everything was still on schedule. I arrived at 2:20 p.m., ten minutes early, introduced myself at the front desk, and said I was there to meet Michael. Instead, another salesperson came over and informed me that Michael was out to lunch—and that the Tesla I had come to see had already been sold. That was it. No one had bothered to let me know the car had sold, despite our many conversations and the appointment reminder sent just an hour earlier. No apology for wasting my time. No explanation as to why the person who had been so eager to get me into the dealership wasn’t even there to meet me. No effort to answer the questions I had been told would be addressed in person. Looking at their website afterward, I could see that they had several other Teslas on the local lot, as well as additional inventory at nearby sister dealerships. Yet no one even asked whether I would like to look at another Tesla or see if one of those vehicles might meet my needs. The contrast was remarkable. Before I arrived, the dealership was persistent in reaching out, calling, texting, and encouraging me to come in. Once I actually made the drive and showed up for the scheduled appointment, my time seemed to have no value at all. Selling a vehicle before a scheduled appointment can happen. Failing to notify the customer, confirming the appointment anyway, and then not even offering a sincere apology or attempting to help with another available vehicle reflects a serious breakdown in customer service. It left me with the impression that getting customers through the door matters far more than respecting the people who took the time to come. More
