Daniel, the customer service rep who checked me in, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to advise me as to what my car would need and assure me of the quality of service I would receive. Review for AutoNation Hyundai (Oceanside, CA) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best car buying experience I’ve ever had! I was in the market for a new vehicle and received a call from Brian Wood. He was genuinely nice and helpful over the phone, which immediately made me want to come in—unlike the Toyota Sienna dealership I called, where they sounded like they had a line of customers around the corner and I was just another number. When I arrived, I met Freddy, who was great and showed me several cars. The first one I liked had light-colored seats, so I asked about a dark interior option. He brought me to a higher trim that was painted in olive drab green — perfect for this Marine veteran! I absolutely loved it. After a solid test drive, we went inside to work out the deal. The team was very upfront about everything. They offered extras like GPS and protection packages, but when I said I didn’t want them, they simply removed them (a refreshing change from my Chrysler Pacifica purchase where they told me I had to keep the add-ons). I received my military discount plus dealer rebates that dropped the price by several thousand dollars. Brian was excellent — he went back and forth multiple times with different buying options until we found the right fit. Then I worked with Moe in finance. He was not pushy at all and worked with me to reduce several items until I was comfortable. I ended up getting the main maintenance package (which was an awesome value — he even brought the oil change service down to basically just the cost of the oil plus a little labor). The dent protection also sounded like a great deal. I wasn’t initially in the tier for 0% financing, but Moe waited until the bank opened the next day and made it happen — 0% interest and no payments for 3 months. That was above and beyond. The entire process from walking in to driving out took under 2 hours — the fastest and smoothest car purchase I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve bought from Chrysler, Toyota, and Nissan before). Big xxxxxxto Brian, Freddy, and Moe for making this such a positive experience. At the end, Brian spent a full 20 minutes with me in the car going over all the features and making sure I was set up for success. He even told me to come back anytime with questions. Sure enough, a week later I had an app question and Brian took care of it and even filled up my tank. That’s top-tier service! I’m definitely coming back to AutoNation Hyundai for my next vehicle. Highly recommend — especially if you’re a veteran or just want to be treated like a valued customer. Thank you Brian, Freddy, and Moe! 🇺🇸 More
Excellent service and staff. They were clear and precise when breaking down information and numbers. They never attempted to sell me anything I didn't want. Before showing up, I They were clear and precise when breaking down information and numbers. They never attempted to sell me anything I didn't want. Before showing up, I called and inquired about the exact make/model of the vehicle I wanted by providing the stock #. In turn, that is exactly what was shown and I was not steered toward other options that I didn't inquire about. I appreciate the laid-back attitude at AutoNation Hyundai Carlsbad, along with their outstanding customer service and great communication. It is not often I would recommend a dealership to anyone, but the fact that this one is not privately owned and is backed by having many locations across the U.S. makes them a dealership by the people and for the people. Thank you for a seamless car buying experience. More
Wasted Time, Botched Repairs, and Zero Accountability. I have had multiple serious issues with AutoNation Carlsbad and feel obligated to warn other customers. ABS Recall — Complete Waste of a Day: I have had multiple serious issues with AutoNation Carlsbad and feel obligated to warn other customers. ABS Recall — Complete Waste of a Day: I scheduled an appointment a full week in advance for an ABS recall repair. The recall was verified as active and my 8:30 AM appointment was confirmed. I took a full day off work and arranged transportation. When I returned after receiving a text saying my car was ready, I was told — for the first time — that no work had been performed because the required part wasn't in stock. No one called me. No one checked before I wasted an entire day. The internal miscommunication was alarming: one staff member texted me the car was ready while the service rep admitted he didn't even know the part was unavailable. Fuel Door Repair. I was given a quote of $333.27 to fix my fuel door and I authorized the repair. After "completion," the service rep called to inform me that my fuel door would now only open via the emergency pull in the trunk — a completely different outcome than what I paid for, and one I never consented to. He also tried giving me a different prize $100 more than original but I did screenshot of the original so I was able to prove it. When the General Manager of Service, Giovanni, called me, he tried to frame it as my misunderstanding and claimed there was no way for them to have known upfront that additional work would be needed. But that's not the point — nobody asked for my consent before changing the scope of the repair. I was simply informed after the fact that this is how it would be now. The price I was given was to fix it, and not open it via emergency switch in my trunk. When I asked for my money back so I could have my own mechanic fix it properly, I was told he offer was for me to pay for the additional part myself while they would install it for free. However, when AutoNation corporate followed up by email, they stated that Giovanni had offered to provide the part AND install it at no charge — which is a lie. I told them they are welcome to pull the recorded phone call, which will confirm exactly what was said. The fact that inaccurate information was reported to corporate is deeply concerning and suggests this dealership is not being transparent even with their own customer relations team. Bottom Line: This dealership has failed on every level — communication, workmanship, transparency, and accountability. When escalated to corporate, concerns were documented and dismissed. I will not be returning and would strongly caution anyone considering service here. More
Phenomenal Experience! Ask for Brian Wood! After having multiple incredibly negative, exhausting experiences at other Hyundai dealerships in the San Diego/Southern Calif Ask for Brian Wood! After having multiple incredibly negative, exhausting experiences at other Hyundai dealerships in the San Diego/Southern California area, coming to Carlsbad Hyundai was an absolute breath of fresh air. From the exact moment I arrived, I was greeted warmly, escorted inside, and introduced to Brian Wood, setting a highly professional and positive tone for the entire visit. Brian was fantastic-super friendly, charismatic, and entirely honest. I initially brought my 2023 Elantra Limited to sell, and while I mistakenly thought he was also my point of contact for the purchase of my new 2026 Elantra limited Hybrid, he went completely above and beyond anyway. He exceeded every single one of my expectations. Unlike other dealerships that play games, Brian actually listened, let me explain my situation, and thoroughly reviewed the paperwork and competing quotes I brought with me. He was completely transparent, shared some of his own personal experiences, and made the environment feel comfortable and respectful. Not only did Carlsbad Hyundai match the out-of-the-door quote I had from another agency for the 2026 Elantra limited Hybrid, but they also honored the exact online quote I requested prior to arrival for my 2023 Elantra limited trade-in. Even the finance department was a direct, positive, and seamless experience-which is rare in the car-buying world. Dealership leadership needs to recognize Brian Wood for his outstanding professionalism, integrity, and customer service. He absolutely deserves an award for how he handles clients, especially those who have been burned by other local dealerships. Thank you, Brian and the Carlsbad Hyundai team, for completely turning my car-buying experience around! More
This has been probably the worst experience I have ever had with a dealership. My engine exploded Jan 2025, got “replaced” and was ready by May 2025 and was told that I would have no issues since everythin had with a dealership. My engine exploded Jan 2025, got “replaced” and was ready by May 2025 and was told that I would have no issues since everything is BRAND NEW. (turbo, full engine rebuild, starter, fuel pump 2x replaced now, spark plugs, thermostat, etc) and I have had to go back in on average every 6 weeks. It is June 2026 and I am still having issues. There is a 12k warranty on the engine and bot have I had to use it. I have 8 service agreements since then. Its almost like the mechanics dont listen to what my car sounds like and just give it back thinking I’m stupid. Cars broken down 2x since engine got replaced. They have been nice and given me loaner cars during this whole thing, but it seems as if they do not listen to any of my real issues. They just bandaid my car and give it back. Mind you, my engine blew up at 59k miles. Its at 70k now. Warranty up, engine still sounds like xxxx. Thanks. Just do yourself a favor and research “hyundai engine explosion” and hopefully you will be deterred from buying a car from them. More

Service was very good and in reasonable time. (The reason for the poor review on the purchase). I was exchanging a leased vehicle (with all the features} I explained to the sales rep. that I want (The reason for the poor review on the purchase). I was exchanging a leased vehicle (with all the features} I explained to the sales rep. that I wanted and used, but the new vehicle did not have those extras I use and like. I did not notice or realize until deal was complete and sitting with the finance officer. I could have rejected the deal then, but I already spent 5 hours negotiating and I was done. I hope for a better understanding and deal next time. I have driven the Tucson for the past 9 years and wish to continue. More
