I wanted to see how my large dog was able to jump up into the outback and was nervous how the salesman would handle that request but Alex was great. He was also friendly, courteous, and relaxed. He did a nice job of introducing us to the outback's features and high points. Thanks, Vernon Procell More
2015 Subaru Forester After visiting a few other Subaru dealerships in San Diego, a neighbor recommended that I visit Bob Baker. She had a great experience with Billy and w After visiting a few other Subaru dealerships in San Diego, a neighbor recommended that I visit Bob Baker. She had a great experience with Billy and walked away with a Forester the first day she went in to the dealership. I took her advice and went to Bob Baker to look at the different Forester models. I worked with Billy and Paul, as I didn't call ahead to schedule an appointment, and both guys were extremely helpful and courteous. After two visits to the dealership, and having to go back to get the car I was trading in, I bought a new Forester. It was a great experience and I would recommend Billy and Paul at Bob Baker Subaru to my friends and family. More

Yong great with young and old! Recently went car shopping with my college age son. He had his heart set on pickup truck. I talked him into looking at a Crosstrek at Bob Baker Subaru Recently went car shopping with my college age son. He had his heart set on pickup truck. I talked him into looking at a Crosstrek at Bob Baker Subaru in Carlsbad. While there, we met a delightful salesman named Yong Shin. He was very polite and answered all our questions thoroughly. (He also wasn't too pushy which was refreshing!). He took us to two separate lots to find the car we wanted. He took us through all the paperwork expertly and got us an EXCELLENT deal. While we were waiting for the finance dept. he even offered us his subway sandwich. (He heard us say we were hungry : ) ). If you're looking for a car, not only would I recommend a Subaru (we have 2) I'd recommend you go see Yong Shin at Bob Baker in Carlsbad. More

He understood that I was nervous about picking and buying a car and treated me well, not like I was wasting his time, which is what I have experienced at other dealerships! Eddie gave me the low-pressure, no hassle car buying experience I was looking for. I recommend him and the dealership highly! More
I researched. I came. I bought. I'm happy. I went in simply to look at a Forester XT Premium, which I knew that had at least one of. A very friendly and helpful gentleman named Terry helped me I went in simply to look at a Forester XT Premium, which I knew that had at least one of. A very friendly and helpful gentleman named Terry helped me out with the Forester XT I parked next to, which had arrived recently as a dealer trade. I already knew it was the Forester XT that I wanted to see, and Terry was happy to take me on a test drive immediately, sensing that I knew about the car already. The test drive was great. The route I took included everything from neighborhood streets which involved hills, empty streets to get a feel for the power, freeway, and even a little unscheduled stop-and-go traffic. Afterwards, another of his customers came back to make a deal with him, so I let him take care of that while I mulled over the possibility of this being a purchase today. I made a call to my insurance to check estimates on rates for the specific car I tested during this time, and the call took much longer than expected. Terry routinely returned, and without saying a word, waited patiently for me to get off the phone. Once I finished, he was helping another customer (this is normal in car sales so I didn't take offense). Another gentleman named Eddie came to help me. We sat at a his desk, and he began asking the standard questions getting a feel for how I was thinking about paying. I knew I didn't want a credit check until I knew my trade-in value, because I might just pay for the car in full if the trade-in was generous. As expected, the trade-in was less than I wanted, so I decided to finance. Without being pushy, Eddie asked if I wanted to run a credit check to get a better idea of rates, but I politely declined. I knew my credit score was good, so I simply wanted to negotiate price. Here's where many people become scared, and think that salespeople are liars. The opposite is true in fact. Tell the salesperson the truth, and you will likely get truth as a response. I told Eddie that I wasn't going to pay sticker, I'd be a fool to. I've done ALOT of research, and know how dealerships work, so Eddie gave me straight answers with no fluff or BS. I thoroughly respect that man and his sales manager today for making this a true business transaction, instead of a nightmare of back-and-forth offers. I asked for a reasonable price, and I got it. Satisfied with my price, I headed over to finance. I've always hated this part of car sales. You've just agreed to a price for the car you desire, now this signing process includes attempts to sell you packages you don't need. This guy, who I respect so little I forgot his name, kept pushing his useless service packages on me as if I'm stupid for not getting them. Several times, he would ask "So what is keeping you from being interested in these packages?" to which I would reply, "the total cost of the packages." Do I really have to explain to you why I don't want to buy something? I'm sorry guy, I'm here to buy, not get interrogated as to why I'm not buying something. I guess he realized his efforts were in vain, so he simply had me finish signing papers. I understand that you make commission on these packages guy, but if you really expect people to fall for the "You're stupid if you don't" mentality you should be doing finance at a GM dealership. So now that I'm done with signing papers, I go back over to Eddie to wait for my car to finish washing. We had discussed earlier that I have no way to drive both my new car, and the car I ended up not trading in, home. Eddie had a brilliant solution: I would drive my car back home, a lot attendant would drive my new car, and Eddie would drive a third car for their return to the dealership. Mind you, by the time they got back to the dealership, they were already supposed to be off work. This was all post-sale kindness, and really sealed the deal for me. Thanks lot attendant guy! If there's anything you should take from this lengthy review, it's that you should: 1) Do your homework 2) Tell the truth about what you want, and how you plan to get it 3) Don't be scared of the salespeople, they want a sale just as much as you want a deal 4) Ask for Eddie or Terry 5) Wear ear plugs for the VW finance guy More
