I apologize to you on behalf of Daniels BMW regarding your comments that you were not treated the way you expected. This is certainly not our intent and I trust that seeing our other reviews on Dealer Rater, we do try to please. Trading cars is always challenging because we have to weigh our ability to resell the car and to meet our customer's expectations. It is an inexact science but has been made much more exact with today's computer programs that help us appraise cars more accurately. I understand your Jaguar was in nice condition for a car of its age. Classics like yours are difficult to appraise because the universe of similar sold cars is very small. After reading your comments, I looked at autotrader.com to see if anyone had a similar car for sale. There was only one XJ6 listed which was two years newer. It doesn't list any price. Manheim Auctions showed little history also. We had little to go on. I understand you were shown the Auction pricing and this upset you. Our intent was the opposite. When we do this, we do it to be transparent with the tools we are using to place a value on a car. The auction is the only place we can be certain to sell a car if we are not able to find a retail buyer in a reasonable time. If we knew we had a buyer for the car at a greater value, we would have happily raised our offer. Classic cars represent a unique market, and we do not normally deal in them for this reason. I am pleased to hear you found someone who offered you more money. Perhaps they had a buyer in mind, or they are comfortable retailing classic cars. Either way, I am sorry we were not able to provide you with a price you found acceptable. Mostly we want you to consider that we did not intend to insult you, or to cheat you. I'm pleased that you found the sales representative pleasurable to work with. He is our top salesperson. He did not get there by disrespecting customers or being unfair. I wish one of our managers had an opportunity to speak with you before you left in such a disappointed state. Perhaps he could have explained the decision process more clearly, or found an alternative that you would have found acceptable. Mr Murphy told me he didn't realize you were upset when you left. Overall I'm glad you found a car and a price that worked for you. We are one of the oldest BMW dealers in the USA. We have won more Awards for Excellence from the manufacturer than any other BMW dealer in the USA. We did this by valuing our customers. Please understand, I'm not trying to make excuses. This is merely an effort to ask you to look at the situation a bit differently than it appears to you at this time. Hopefully, you will give us another chance to earn your business in the future. Thank you for your response I do appreciate it it took much thought. I bought a 1999 BMW 328 ci convertible that was listed for $1000 more then the car I looked at. I paid 4700 plus my Jaguar. If your finance manager had not just passed on the auction figures for that car which were like 1800 dollars I think we could have worked out a deal. I know Brad was very aware of my feelings when he called me on a follow up the next day. I am very sorry that the experience worked out the way it did but I am sorry also in that I will never come back to your facility or recommend you to anyone. It is a shame because your sales people were so nice. By the way did the other gentleman who took the car out for a ride while we were there purchase the car? Perhaps that's why we were treated as we were? And I will tell you I am so impressed by the car that I will purchase another BMW.
