BMW San Diego said they could not diagnose nor repair my transmission problem I have a 1995 740i with 50,000 miles on it, and it is like new. My transmission lever had been intermittently sticking over t transmission problem I have a 1995 740i with 50,000 miles on it, and it is like new. My transmission lever had been intermittently sticking over the past 3 years, and this year, it would not shift into park after a 15-mile trip when I got home in my drive. I phoned BMW San Diego with a clear description of my problem and was told they could likely fix it. I had AAA tow it in, and BMW diagnosed it as the shifter lever. They kept my car for three weeks while they got a new lever from Germany. It cost $1377, so I hoped it would be fixed. During Sept and October I drove four trips, a total of 40 miles, and the problem kept occurring. I was scared to drive the car, fearing it would lock up in a grocery parking lot. It would shift when cold so I could start it and drive it back to BMW. Upon arrival the service manager tried to drive my car, he could not get it out of the park. He assured me he would oversee the job and have every one of BMW's best mechanics evaluate my problem. After a week (They gave me a free loaner, thank you.), he phoned back and said they had no idea how to fix my car other than installing a new transmission. During that wait, I did more research on my own and found that others shared my problem. A transmission shop in Encinitas said, "We have heard of your problem, but we cannot fix it. You need to call Frank at Marimar transmission, as he is the only one we know who can fix your problem." I phoned Frank at Mirimar Transmission, and he told me to drive my car from BMW to his shop. He apologized for his workload delay but said if he could find the parts he needed in San Diego, he could fix my car in two days. Two days and $3800 later, my 740 is shifting like new. More
This dealership just can't get it right. I have a 2024 M4 Competition, not a cheap car mind you and they treat it like a '92 civic not a 6-figure car.I just had to go back and forth with the I have a 2024 M4 Competition, not a cheap car mind you and they treat it like a '92 civic not a 6-figure car.I just had to go back and forth with them a few months ago for returning my car to me with a flat tire after THEY were negligent and ran over sharp metal pieces in the shop. That took a while to get sorted and to have the tire replaced. The amount of times I was told "how do we know it was us is astonishing. I provided them with photos and time stamps for them to check their cameras along with speaking to multiple employees and it still took a while to get sorted. Fast forward to literally EVER single time I get my vehicle back from service, there are damages. Some times minor sometimes major which alter the resale value of the vehicle. I have not received my car back without damages a single time. Most of the time I'm forced to just try to ignore the issues because dealing with them after THEY case damage is nothing short of torture. I constantly receive my car back filthy with dirty finger prints everywhere which is annoying yes, but I can wash it so it's whatever. I've tried to buff out the multiple scratches they have caused and had little success unfortunately. However today I received my car back from an oil change, and of course grimy fingerprints all over my door and window because these animals were never taught how to close a car door I'm guessing. There are scratches all over my piano finished center console along with a gash in my shifter top leather. I was parked at the end of the driveway going over the damages deciding if I felt like dealing with them or not and decided to turn around and ask them why it was returned like this. I pull up, get out and ask the employee for the manager, he states there's nobody around... I ask if the GM who I dealt with last time is around. Of course there is "nobody" around. After figuring out I wasn't going to be helped or taken seriously I just ask for the corporate number and leave. Employee didn't ask to see the damages didn't ask how they could help the situation, he just stared at me until I decided not to waste my breath and leave. Which is precisely how the situation was handled when they brought my car out with a flat tire. This place doesn't learn from mistakes and refuses to take responsibility. Unfortunately I have to wait until Monday to contact the corporate office and get this sorted out but I'm sure by that point "too much time" will have passed since they returned the car. Knowing full well I tried to have it taken care of on the spot and was told there was nobody around that could help me. If you care about your car even a miniscule amount, go ANYWHERE else. This place is an absolute joke. I'm actually going to be looking to trade in my car and will not be returning to BMW ever based on the callous disregard they show towards their customers and the lackluster precautions they take to insure our cars are not damaged. I have gotten better service and less damage at a Chevy dealership this place should be ashamed More
I purchased a “certified car” and noticed a defect in the interior - excessive wear on the leather seat only six months after purchase. Clearly a defect. The dealer refused to repair. Working with Jason Balelo was an absolute pleasure, by far it was the most simple and fastest time I've had buying a car. Jason never tried to push or rush me into making a decision and worked with me every step of the way. I was in and out in around 2 hours after deciding on the car. Amy in finance made sure to explain everything but was never pushy. Overall I am so thankful for the wonderful experience buying my m340i. If you are ever looking to buy a BMW I would definitely recommend going to Jason Balelo at BMW San Diego! More
Would not trust them for anything. Just got off the phone with the general manager, who defended exploiting an out of area involuntary customer with no options. Had a wheel blowout on Just got off the phone with the general manager, who defended exploiting an out of area involuntary customer with no options. Had a wheel blowout on my rear right tie. Could not not find my wheel lock in my trunk,. I was 100 miles from home. Dealer the only place where a wheel lock could be found purchased, and they did not carry my wheel lock. It was either a $1,500 tow or ask the service department to remove the wheel lock and put a regular lug nut in replacement so I could get my tire replaced. This takes 15 seconds total with an air gun, The initially quoted me $240 for a 15 second repair. When I complained, they lowered it to $96, which is still $23,040 an hour. I would accept as fair a nominal amount, but they needed to increase their profits. In certain situations like this you cannot avoid a dealer, and the general manager thought it was okay to gouge a disable car owner 100 miles away. Stay away from San Diego BMW f at all possible. They are vultures flying over a carcass, and profits are all that they care about. For normal, non-emergency repairs, don't give them your business if you live in the San Diego area. They will exploit and rip you off. More
