Based on the concern communicated to our team, we verified operation of the fog lights and high beams during the inspection and our shop foreman confirmed there were no additional concerns relating to the recall work performed. It appears there may have been some miscommunication regarding the headlamp switch position and how the automatic headlamp setting affects high beam operation. We would never intentionally mislead a guest regarding the condition or operation of their vehicle, and we apologize if the communication during your visit did not provide the clarity you expected. We would like to acknowledge your 30 years of doing business with us—that matters, and it’s not something we take lightly or for granted . We are genuinely sorry that this experience left you feeling this frustrated. That said, we do need to clear up a few important points so there’s a full and accurate picture. Barber Ford does have loaner vehicles, but they are in very high demand and are typically scheduled about two weeks out. At the time your appointment was made, a loaner was not requested. You have been provided with loaners vehicles before, during a previous visit, you were given a loaner that was kept for over two weeks after your truck was completed, which further limits availability for other customers. From a diagnostic standpoint, our Senior Master Technician definitely did identify concerns, but also made a recommendation (based on 20+ years experience) that the front-end damage and related sensor issues be addressed first. These days vehicles rely heavily on those systems, and any body damage there can directly impact drivability and trigger false or misleading transmission-related concerns. His goal was not to avoid the repair, but to avoid having you spend money on work that may not resolve the root cause. That’s not avoidance, that’s not terrible customer service, on the contrary —that’s looking out for you. Regarding the comparison to another dealership offering same-day service and a rental: when we spoke Saturday morning , the vehicle had not yet been dropped off there and the appointment date was “unknown” , so it’s kinda hard to compare service or timelines until they’ve had the opportunity to properly inspect it. As for the recall, safety recalls are taken seriously. However, they still require proper diagnosis, parts availability, and scheduling—just like any other repair. We clearly fell short in communication somewhere along the way, and that’s on us. But we want to be clear that there was never a lack of effort or concern for resolving your issue properly and ethically.
