I bought a 2011 Honda pilot at Baron Honda-route 112, Patchogue. sale of vehicle was pending the rims being reconditioned to new. The whole process went ok until the first family ride. We noticed the whe Patchogue. sale of vehicle was pending the rims being reconditioned to new. The whole process went ok until the first family ride. We noticed the wheels were out of balance. I requested by phone that the weights used for balancing be placed in a hidden location as before. I was told no problem from service dept. I was told to come down to drop my vehicle off and make sure I put it in writing so that there would be no mistake. Which I did. Tony Noto, the sales manager accepted my car into service and triple underlined my request for the weights to not be placed on the face of the rim. Sounds simple enough. However, the weights were placed on the face of the rim, causing damage. Their service manager refused to remove the weights which would disclose the damage beneath saying that it could not be done any other way. This lead to arguing back and forth for two days because conveniently the only people who could right this wrong were not available. When finally I was able to speak to Dominick the general manager, I was told that they refused to release the vehicle, because it would be unsafe to undo the balancing and also refused to balance from behind because his way was the right way to do it and pilots could not be static balanced which hides the weights. This is ridiculous because the type of vehicle has nothing to do with balancing a tire and rim. Hiding the weights is the preferred method of balancing for many quality rims. They also refused to be responsible for damage of rim after removal by anyone else because they couldn't trust that they would be removed correctly. This clearly and conveniently removes them from all liability of the damage that their mistake caused to the new rim. Apparently only their service department is qualified to balance tires. This must be a really technical procedure. lol. This is a blatant case of not taking responsibility for their mistake. Things got out of hand and after 3 days for a 5 minute wheel balance, my car was returned with 2 door dings, one small dent over the fender well and multiple small nicks and scratches. I hope this gives you an idea of the quality of people you are dealing with at Baron Honda. I hope you don’t have a real issue to deal with through them. Can you imagine being told that the service manager has the last say of anything on your vehicle. What I brought it there for was discussed and in writing, but he did it his way and never called to discuss the matter. It is clearly a cover up for a stupid mistake. Apparently Dominick the general manager talked to Mr. baron, who claimed that they have to do what the service manager felt was right. After all this, I want you to know the truck was sold to me by baron with the weights on the inside of the rim . I told them this and after waiting a day was told, "that was a mistake, now they’re done right" and refused to return them to the way they were. Problem is that I bought and own the vehicle now, not them. Even after a failed NYS inspection, which could be due to poor brakes, tires and other serious issues, it is your right to leave and have someone else do the work. So I leave saying caveat emptor (let the buyer beware) and be careful at Baron, Route 112, Patchogue. More
I initially bought my car from this dealership and have had it serviced regularly there. Time and time again, the men would try and upsell me on things for my car that I wouldn't even need. The latest time had it serviced regularly there. Time and time again, the men would try and upsell me on things for my car that I wouldn't even need. The latest time I went to get my oil changed, they came back to me with a list of things I needed to get done totalling $800! I decided to go get a second opinion to see if I needed all the work done that Baron Honda was proposing. Turns out I didn't need ANY of the work done. Plus, the mechanics at Baron put my directional tires on backwards! To make matters worse, the men at the desk were hitting on me in front of my boyfriend which was very rude and unnecessary. I would neve. Go back there again or trust their expertise. Overall experience with them has been very shady. More
My sales experience was exemplary with no pressure. In fact the salesman handed me the keys and said "go for a drive". No one sitting in the back seat speiling at us. The price was fair and reasonable, fact the salesman handed me the keys and said "go for a drive". No one sitting in the back seat speiling at us. The price was fair and reasonable, in fact much lower than Edmunds indicated it should be in New York. The samelman himself gave me a price, and when I picked up the van I spoke to a finance manager, but again he presented several warranties, but no pressure or ridiculous stories. The service people are just super. No nonsense. No trying to sell un-needed service. Fair prices, with work delivered on time. What more could you ask for? The dealer is in business to make a reasonable profit after all. My previous experience with a European dealer was absolutely terrible. Constant lies and deception. THIS DEALER IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!! More
