Got what I wanted I ended up with the car that I wanted, however the whole process took so long I was about to take a nap. I got there at 3 and left around 7:30. Classic Corvettes I purchased a classic corvette that I followed for two months on the internet. Jonathan kept me up to date until I could visit the store. (200 miles distance). the vehicle was just as he described and was cleaned and ready for us ( my wife and myself) to test drive. No pressure to buy. Jonathan stayed with us throughout the purchase at the big dealership, showing us around the shop, which was very reassuring, amazing and informative.. Mr. Rick Petersen was also very knowledgeable and delightful to talk to. In sum, I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had at the dealership. I would also add that Eric Pieroni was very professional, efficient and comfortable in closing the documentation. Friendly, honest, and no-pressure customer service I have been in the market for a manual transmission convertible for nearly two months now. Have been doing tons of lookiing online for the right car I have been in the market for a manual transmission convertible for nearly two months now. Have been doing tons of lookiing online for the right car. During my search, I happened to drive by Bill Kay Corvettes and Classics on Ogden in Downers Grove. Despite not having considered looking at a Corvette to fit my bill for a new car, I wanted to stop in to look at the cars, since I am definitly a fan of classics, and the Corvette is surely an American classic. I was greeted by Jonathan Forkal who offered his assistance. I mentioned why I stopped by and added that I would be interested, since I was there, to look at what's available in my price range. Why not, afterall? I have to admit I was most likely out of my price range. He knew right off the bat which cars were in my price range, and requirement for a convertible with manual trans. I wasn't sure I liked the choices, so I mentally upped my price range. Meanwhile, Jon had to attend to an issue inside, so I walked the lot alone to look at the cars. Upon his returning, I asked several questions about a few of the cars that interested me, and I focused on a 2003 anniversary Corvette. I looked it over with him, asked several questions about the car (since I really didn't know much about Corvettes - especially if I was considering owning one. I decided to take a test ride with him after asking about the price which was more than $ 10k over my target price range. Jon let me drive the car wherever I wanted to go (within reason, I am sure) and I decided the car was willing to up my price range making the Corvette a great contender for a purchase . Jon worked with me on the carfax history, and online price comps with NADA. I also had access to my own pricing tools like Edmunds and KBB. We easily settled on a price with dealer manager Rick's approval, and I eventually drove off with a 2003 manual trans 50th anniversary Corvette convertible. They even let me keep my Jeep at the property so I could drive the Corvette home and get my spouse to return to pick up the Jeep the next day. The car was nearly immaculate when I loooked it over, but Jon even commented on how it needed to be detailed for delivery. They do a great job detailing their used cars. Everyone who has since seen the car has been very impressed with its near-new condition despite being 13 years old . And I am really enjoying the Corvette, allowing me to feel like a teenager again when I drive it. To summarize: friendly, no-pressure, knowledgeable, helpful, enjoyable experience. They made me feel at home as opposed to typical dealerships where all you want to do is make a deal and run away from the less-than positive experience. If you are in the market for a Corvette of any age or a classic like the 1957 Chevy Nomad that was on the showroom floor at the time or a 1971 Lincoln Continental that they let me drive a couple of miles since I am into antiques vehicles and they were willing to do a two car deal with me, be sure to stop in and ask for Jon. I worked with Joe Komendanchik on the financing. I was able to get very good financing for a used car with my high credit score, and I even purchased a 3 year/36k mile nearly bumper to bumper warranty despite not usually buying warranties for anything. Joe was patient with me as I hemmed and hawed for what probably seemed like hours. I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision with a warranty. Joe walked through all the warranty choices available and worked with me a bit on the price. I feel I made the right decision. He even let me leave a deposit on my credit card and return later that week with a personal check for the balance of the cash portion of the deal. Again, I felt that ai was being dealt with as a valued customer and not just another opportunity to make a few bucks with overcharging on financing or selling me something I didn't need or want. I was met with a very friendly hello and congrats on my purchase from everyone who worked at the dealership despite their not playing a direct part in the deal. How often does that happen?! Despite my living in the city and being nearly 30 miles away from the dealer, I am definitely planning to have my car serviced at Bill Kay. I am anticipating the same level of friendly, straight-forward service when I do. More
