Thomas, I apologize for the delay in getting the car completed. The airbag recall is much more involved on the 4runners that the other models. They should have explained this at the time of write-up, the 4runners take 3 times longer to do than the other models. I am also looking into who and why they would have told you that it was going to be done in 30 minutes also when it was not. I took care of the oil change and the diagnostic of the light issue that you asked us to look into for the mistakes. I apologize and understand your frustration, I would have felt the same way.

Thank you for your feedback, but we must clear up a few things for those who might read this review. As we discussed with you before you posted this review, when a customer comes in with an issue that is outside of the basic 3 year/36,000 mile factory warranty provided by Toyota, they will have to sign for a diagnostic charge. In this case of the check engine light it was $140.00 not $200.00. The technician uses our equipment to scan your vehicle, and take that information to see what system or systems caused the car to illuminate the warning lights. With an extended warranty the first step always needs to be performing the technical diagnosis (not just a guess) for Toyota corporate to even check for any potential coverage for the failed parts. If the sensor would have been a covered component of the contract, then you would have paid nothing but the deductible on the contract if you have one. This is the reason we have to secure a diagnostic fee for the technician diagnosis the concern. If the warranty company does not cover the repair and you don't want to get the repairs done, the technician still needs to be compensated for the time he has put into the diagnostics. If you decided to have this repair done that day or at a later date in the future, that diagnostic fee gets automatically applied to the repair charge. If we didn't charge a diagnostic fee for the more labor intensive diagnostics, every other repair shop would send cars here to be checked to see what parts needed to be replaced for no charge. It looks like you ended up paying $300 for the repair elsewhere anyways, which is exactly what you would have ended up paying for the work to be performed at our dealership. We are sorry if we did not communicate this to you as well as we could have. We wish you many miles of safe and happy driving in your vehicle. Regards, Katie Bredemann
