We went to this dealer a total of 3 times looking at the Honda CRv, on our last visit we intended to purchase the CRV 2013. The salesperson gave us a price listing that was low and when we questioned it , h Honda CRv, on our last visit we intended to purchase the CRV 2013. The salesperson gave us a price listing that was low and when we questioned it , he brushed us off. Our thought was they discounted the 2013 because the 2014 's were in and they wanted to get them off the lot. After we accepted the price, signed over our title, cleaned out our trade in, the salesman came back and stated his manager made a terrible mistake and the price was actually $5k more. This salesperson has been with Brilliance Honda for 12 years, so to confuse the price after we had questioned it seems unlikely to me. Needless to say, we left, went to another dealer in Barrington and purchased the car. Much happier with our choice. Would not recommend Brilliance. More
I was in the market for a new Civic Hybrid and was about 8 months away from "taking the plunge". I am very slooooow in making buying decisions. My decision to go to Brilliance Honda was because it is in close proximity to my home. I walked into the new location and was warmly greeted by a smiling salesman by the name of Max Ring. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and courteous and before I knew it I was signing papers to buy my brand new Civic Hybrid! 8 months before I thought I would. It's actually very simple, people like doing business with people they like! If you are looking for a great "deal" and a pleasant buying experience then go to Brilliance and ask for Max. You won't be disappointed. :-) More

Our experience from the start was great. We had contacted several different Honda dealerships and Brilliance was the easiest to deal with. We own three driving schools and have been purchasing and servicing our cars with a local Honda dealer for years. Unfortunately they did not give us the best price even though we have been loyal to them. From now on we will be going to Brilliance for all of our car purchases. Thanks Max! More
The salesman who sold me the car was the only positive experience I had at this dealership. I decided to purchase the interior and the exterior protection packages. The result was a disaster. The car had streaks all over the paint and the dashboard and instrument panel were smeared. I brought this to the attention of the supervisor who just brushed it off. I complained and they agreed to do it over. The result was the same or worse. Again the supervisor showed no respect for my time and inconvenience. Finally on the third try they got it right. I have tried several times to get the attention of the owner and have been completely ignored. They have made no effort to make me feel like a valued customer. To me, the service I receive after buying the car is more important than the purchase itself. It's a shame that the salesman and the customer suffer because of arrogant management. More
Many things went wrong with my experience. Starting off, I worked with the internet sales which was great and I believe I got a great price. But when I went to the dealership, everything changed. I had two small kids with me and was told everything was going to be ready. The white van was pulled up, however, was very filthy on the outside. Now Max blamed it on the construction. If they knew I was coming, why didn't they at least wash it quickly before pulling it up?? And it only had 6 miles on it, so it was obviously not driven through the construction as was indicated. I was also told, by Max, that they would look at my trade-in to see what the value would be while I was test driving the van. However, this was not the case. I got back and had to wait and wait and wait for them to figure out the value of the trade-in. And may I remind you I had two very small kids... When I was talking to Max, he was not very friendly or conversational either. He was very short, and would always respond with saying, "that's okay," even when it didn't make sense. Also, when I asked questions about the van, Max was not very knowledgeable about the van or accessories. For example, Max couldn't set up my Bluetooth, and he didn't know if it had fog lights. Both things that he should know if he was a salesman. And to top it off, when I asked about the child safety locks for the carseats, he said there was NOT hooks for the top of the carseats. A couple days later, after I purchased the vehicle, I read the manual and he was WRONG!! The last thing a mother wants for her children is for them to be unsafe. I believed him because he said no with confidence, but then kept thinking about it and knew that he had to be wrong because my old Honda had them and cars are always upgrading, not downgrading with child safety features. This was probably the thing that disappointed me and made me mad the most. Because my children's safety will ALWAYS come first, and he told me something that could have put my children's life at risk!!! Not even that, but a van is a family vehicle! That is definitely one feature every salesman should know about!!! I bought the protection package as well. And they didn't do right then, so I had to bring my van back in. I didn't think this would be a problem because they said I would get a van as a comp. However, when I took the van in for service, they gave me a little Honda civic. It was very difficult to transfer both carseats in the car without any assistance, and at the same time watching my two small children. When the van was ready for pick up, I went to pick it up and the inside still seemed "wet" from the protection. I was just happy I had towels to put underneath the carseats. They also charged me wrong for the mudflaps and when I called they said oops and will send me a check in the mail. After calling several times regarding this and not receiving the check, the customer service rep told me that the check was in the mail. Well, they lied because I received the check over three weeks later after they stated that, and then looked at the postmark and was postmarked the day prior. Since when does the post office postdate a stamp on an envelope. It doesn't. CL Honda lied once again... After I test drove the van, Max did not act like he believed I was going to buy the van. He acted like he didn't care and that I was too young to buy a vehicle, especially one that was top of line. I did not go into the dealership to be judged, I went to buy a vehicle for my family and me. You would think the salesman would want to sell you the vehicle and try to sell you a top line vehicle, but who am I? Just a young mother (even though I am not that young - I am above 30) who has two young kids. I am sure there was more, but these are the things that stick in my head right now. The only thing else I can say is that I love the van and am happy I purchased it! I will just never purchase a vehicle of any kind at Crystal Lake dealership. Very disappointed to say the very least. Second, Max was a willing participant in our quest to find the best deal, and was understanding when it came to answering our questions and dealing with our need to negotiate on all aspects of the deal. Third, after all of our bargaining, Brilliance still had the best price, and the other dealerships told my wife and I to take the deal at Brilliance, as they couldn't beat it. Lastly, Max led us through the process of financing and car prep like a breeze, and we were out of the dealership in no time. All in all, a great car buying experience, and I highly recommend Max! Best experience I had buying a used car. It was a bit complex because I had to register the auto to my son in California. Max, Darryl, Katrina and Jeff worked together and made it happen.
