I worked with a salesperson named Jimmy after informing him that the truck I purchased from this dealership approximately five months earlier had been totaled. I advised that I was ready to purchase a replacement vehicle. I selected a specific truck online, scheduled an appointment, and test-drove that exact vehicle. The test drive was satisfactory, and it was the same model I previously owned. At that time, the lender required confirmation of the payoff from the totaled vehicle before finalizing the purchase. Jimmy contacted me weekly to follow up on the payoff. Once I confirmed the payoff was complete, Jimmy instructed me to return to the dealership, stating that the truck I selected would be cleaned and ready for pickup. Upon arrival, the vehicle appeared prepared and was reviewed again. However, without disclosure or consent, the dealership substituted the vehicle and attempted to complete a sale on a different truck than the one I had selected, test-driven, and agreed to purchase. I only became aware of this substitution after I was seated in the vehicle setting up OnStar and after a temporary tag had already been placed. At that moment, a manager contacted Jimmy and stated that this was not the truck that had been sold to me. Due to this misrepresentation, I immediately requested that the finance agent Maria cancel the transaction and return my $2,000 deposit. Since that request, I have been provided inaccurate and inconsistent information on at least three occasions regarding the status of my refund. I have made multiple trips—each exceeding an hour of travel time—to the dealership based on assurances that the refund would be processed, only to be given the runaround with no resolution. As of this complaint, my deposit has not been returned. The conduct described above reflects a serious breakdown in ethical sales practices, internal controls, and customer accountability. Selling or attempting to sell a vehicle different from the one represented, followed by repeated failure to return a deposit after cancellation, is unacceptable. I am requesting immediate resolution, including: 1. Full reimbursement of my $2,000 deposit, Please advise on the next steps and timeline for resolution.
