I recently purchased a certified used Crosstrek from Byers, and it was one of the worst car buying experiences I have ever gone through. I felt like I had stepped through a time portal to the 1970s. They let us stew in a salesman's cubicle for nearly 3 hours before responding to our initial offer/counteroffer. When the sales manager finally showed up to complete the paperwork, he was a crude, bullying jerk who used every cliched, sleazy hard sell tactic in the book in an effort to get me to purchase an extended warranty. I wasted at least half an hour repeatedly saying "no" to him in a louder and louder voice while he talked over me and refused to accept my answer. Then he kept getting aggressive with me because I wouldn’t justify my “no.” It ended up feeling like some sort of sick power game, where this guy wasn’t going to let me ‘get the better of him’ in front of his sales staff. I wish I knew the xxxxxx's name, so I could shame him publicly.* For the record, I did not buy the warranty, but I did later call Subaru factory customer support to verify that I wasn't lied to about the car's 'certified used' status and to complain about the shady behavior. I should have walked out the first time the sales manager tried bullying me. My bad for not doing so. And shame on me for buying a car from Byers. My only recourse at this point is to write a bad review and never spend another cent there, ever. If we need service on our Crosstrek, we will take it to Louis Thomas in Parkersburg or Wagner in Dayton rather than give any more money to Byers. The next time we buy a Subaru, it definitely will not be from Byers. *The Dealer Rater review software requires me to choose someone to rate, so I'm going with Chad Sneed, because the jerk I dealt with had a goatee, and he's the only 'management dept' person with a goatee in his thumbnail photo on the Dealer Rater site. I recently bought a new Subaru Outback limited from Byers Subaru. I love my new Outback, but more than that I appreciated the people at the dealership.
