WORST CAR-BUYING EXPERIENCE COURTESY OF RON FRANKLIN I would like to share with you my dealership experience at Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet at 103rd & Wornall Road and follow-up with my dealership experience I would like to share with you my dealership experience at Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet at 103rd & Wornall Road and follow-up with my dealership experience at Cable-Dahmer GMC-Buick-Cadillac. My husband & I went shopping for a pre-owned car with low mileage for our small business at Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet on the evening of November 10, 2014. We were approached by Ron Franklin, a sales associate, who showed us a 2014 Chevy Traverse with 18K miles on it. We took it for a test drive and along the way, inquired if we could test drive overnight. Ron said no due to insurance regulations, but he did mention we could trade this back in if we drove it less than 1000 miles or 2 weeks, whichever was less. We returned to the dealership, satisfied with the vehicle and the trade option, and went ahead to purchase the vehicle. The next step was meeting with Carrie, in finance. We requested the Traverse to be titled using company credit. Carrie suggested I enter my information as a co-applicant. Turns out, my credit was the only one run for determining approval for purchase. She didn’t know if she could use our business solely as the responsible payer, but said she would look into this issue tomorrow on her day off; she never followed up. The next morning, November 11th, we begin inspecting the vehicle and realize there were way too many dings/dents, nicks and scratches. We called Ron reporting what we were finding and wanted to exercise a trade. We drove to the dealership that evening after I came home from work, and Ron found us another 2014 Traverse with 12K miles. We took this for a test drive, and Ron stated again, “you have 1000 miles if you want to trade, Miss Holly.” This Traverse was better to our liking, however, there was the matter of some damage on the back door we wanted fixed. We again signed the papers and learned Carrie was not working that day and still did not complete the title as we requested. The next day (November 12th), my husband brought the Traverse in and Ron advised the damage on the back door could be taken care of by Paintless Dent Repair. Ron said to bring the Traverse back on Thursday at noon when they were here. We return Thursday November 13th at noon, Ron is off that day, no one was aware of our appointment with Paintless Dent Repair. We spoke to your Service department who sent us to your body shop, who told us the damage to the back door could not be fixed by Paintless Dent Repair, and they only show up on Wednesdays. On November 14th, we return to the dealership, where Ron was going to make calls to get the repairs done. By this time, I was not comfortable with the vehicle and wanted to exercise a trade. Ron asked if we had less than 1000 miles on it we told him yes, it has been parked in the driveway since Wednesday (November 12th). The following Wednesday, November 19th, my husband called Ron and told him we wanted something different. Ron suggested a Chevy Terrain, but I wanted something more along the lines of a car. Ron said he would look into this and get back with us on Friday. On Friday, November 21st, everything changed. Ron told us we couldn’t trade because he said we had to first register the Traverse. We tried to reach the general manager Amanda, but she was unavailable. I called another General Manager at the Independence store and spoke to Dan Boyer, told him this issues we were facing. He listened to my concerns and I informed him my husband was on his way over to see about a trade. My husband met with Dan, who asked what he was looking for, and introduced him to a salesman, Nathan Steele. We researched a Buick Regal while looking for cars and found a blue one right on the showroom floor. The dealership was accommodating to our needs and allowed my husband to drive that Buick Regal right off the showroom floor. Fortunately, this was during the daytime, so he could inspect everything and be sure this is what we really wanted without the high-pressure sales pitch and a salesman tagging along on a test drive. When my husband picked me up from work, I knew this was the car for us. We drove back to the dealership in Independence and worked out a trade. Nathan Steele exceeded our expectations and spent quality time with us answering all our questions and offering assistance to personally show me all the options, how the technology works, and discuss the scheduled maintenance. Another bonus not mentioned at the other dealership, was the GMC Black Friday deal, which greatly influenced our decision to buy new rather than pre-owned. Chris Chiles, finance manager at Independence dealership, used creative financing to make this trade work. The purchase price on the Traverse was $30,995 initially + warranties + $2500 taxes. The trade-in value amounted to $24K, for less than 2 weeks and under 1000 miles of nothing but unresolved issues. The purchase price of the Buick Regal before the promotion was $32K, the discounted the price 20%, totaling $26K. There was NO explanation for paying $2613 in taxes on the Traverse because it was not registered to us, Cable–Dahmer still owns the vehicle. This car-buying experience was one of the most frustrating and left us upside-down on a vehicle we do not even own. I would appreciate a reply and remedial action to resolve this matter. More

To be determined.... All in all it was an average to good experience. I do have to say that Clint was very nice to work with. I started my car buying journey months ago, r All in all it was an average to good experience. I do have to say that Clint was very nice to work with. I started my car buying journey months ago, reviewing cars on Edmunds, Kelly Blue book, NADA, and many more. I also reviewed dealerships. After reviewing cars and the reliability of them I had a good idea what I wanted. The reason I ended up at Cable Dahmer was because they had the used Kia make, model and year I was looking for at the Kelly Blue Book suggested price. I went to a lot of places and dealt with a lot of car salesmen. Get real! Car dealerships are car dealerships and most the people I know compare dealing with a car salesman kinda like going to the dentist, something you gotta do. I will say that in my journey I did experience some real STINKERS and a couple of really good people. I will say that Clint was more honest and upfront than I had expected. I have two friends who are going through the same process, one for a new vehicle and one for a used and the games they have dealt with is what I expected to have to go through but that was not the case with Clint. Chris Rayl was also a pleasure to chat with. I will say that the financing end made me feel like I was being RUSHED. It was late and wondered if they were wanting to go home but I think it is just really all part of the dealership process. I did get the extended warranty insurance which does have some interesting guidelines, so read the contract so you fully understand. The warranty insurance is through a company by the name of Century which does have a A+ rating through the BBB but other customer reviews give them nothing more that 1 star, so really think about that. When I called Cable Dahmer to ask about this company I had to leave a message and I have NOT been called back yet. So take it for what it is worth... to be determined. Thanks Clint and Chris!! More

We did a quick look up for our truck a dream of what we could get the truck and magic happened. Chris presented his best deal upfront. My wife was even on the same page! Chris don't change! Your 'honest and hard working normal guy' persona is what made me not feel pressured and pushed. Thank you! We'll be spreading your name! More

All of the employees from the salesman to the finance officer were very friendly, laid-back, and most importantly not pushy.
