You prepare yourself for a long, frustrating, and tiresome ordeal. We contacted several dealerships prior to Rockingham and were dissapointed and they just reinforced our opinion of the car buying experience. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Rockingham Toyota. Bob Copley was pleasant, courteous, and very professional. We were extremely particular with what we wanted. Bob was very patient and located a vehicle for us within a day. He was in constant contact with us throughout the process. There were no surprises. He followed up with emails if he could not reach us by phone. It was great. David Pickering was genuine and personable and the price was great without the hassle. He assured us we would be kept up to speed with every step of the process and he did not disappoint. Terry Wong literally walked us through the financial paperwork and explained EVERYTHING. He made us feel so comfortable and we did not leave questioning ourselves. While we were waiting for the finishing touches, Emmett Horgan (owner of the dealership), offered us a slice of pizza. Edwin Santiago was a pleasure to work with but the rest of the sales staff left a lot to be desired - started with online sales and were assured of an Edwin Santiago was a pleasure to work with but the rest of the sales staff left a lot to be desired - started with online sales and were assured of an excellent price with 0% financing - we repeatedly told them we insisted that as much of the process be completed before we drove 80 miles to complete a deal. The dealer was pretty much unresponsive /uncooperative. I happened to be driving through Salem sometime later and I tried to nail down the details of a deal with a visit - only to be told that the deal offered via email was not possible - I said OK and started to leave - was called back (not by name - "Hey you") and told yes that deal was possible..... I left and said I'd think about it. I later contacted our sales person and said we'd do the deal but objected to a large deposit required before they would confirm the deal - still had no confirmation of financing beyond "Looks good". Several days later after my wife had urged me to put down a deposit and proceed I again stressed that we would not come down until the financing was confirmed (again an 80 mile round trip - we had a ride there arranged). We went believing that all was in order - had to wait far too long to get to financing (actually hard sell for extended coverages) only to be asked to fill out all our info - we had done an online app weeks before - and then were told we couldn't get the 0% financing again.......we again started to say OK, never mind, no deal - then we could get the 0% financing....a big thank you to the finance guy (whose name escapes me right now but I think it was Scott) for making it work but the rest of the sales and financing staff need to get themselves coordinated and to honestly deal with prospective buyers. More
