Easy, Easy, Easy Car shopping is notoriously a difficult process, especially when in a state of desperation. I had hoped that my old Camry would have lasted me throug Car shopping is notoriously a difficult process, especially when in a state of desperation. I had hoped that my old Camry would have lasted me through the last 4 months of grad school, but I found myself dealing with my car situation much earlier than planned. I had visited a number of places down in the Boston area near my school, but repeatedly left crushed, defeated, and frequently in tears. I visited Rockingham Toyota with ZERO expectations of actually finding a car that would work for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how genuinely nice and friendly each individual was. I worked with Rick Titus, who patiently helped me identify potential cars while continuously maintaining a laid-back, no pressure, no stress atmosphere. He didn't even make me cry! In fact, I found myself laughing more often than I would have ever anticipated. I cannot articulate how much I appreciated Rick's approach. I truly believe that I would not have found an appropriate car had I gone elsewhere. The calm, friendly atmosphere that Rick perpetuated allowed me to participate in the process without becoming overwhelmed. Thank you, Rick! In addition, I worked with Scott to complete all the necessary paperwork. Once again, the calm and friendly atmosphere continued and thus provided a pleasant end to what was over all a surprisingly enjoyable experience. More

Shopping at Rockingham Toyota was surprisingly.... painless. Lets be honest. Nobody ever looks forward to dealing with car salesmen. The spiffy suits, the shifty smiles, the all powerful "sales manager" seated Lets be honest. Nobody ever looks forward to dealing with car salesmen. The spiffy suits, the shifty smiles, the all powerful "sales manager" seated atop his mighty throne like Zeus on Mount Olympus, you get the idea. It's just not an environment that the average person feels comfortable entering into. Like having blood taken or receiving a shot in the arm at the doctors office, it's a necessary process one has to occasionally endure that your hoping doesn't hurt any more than your already expecting it to. That was the mindset my wife and I had pulling into Rockingham Toyota on a sunny Wednesday afternoon this July. I believe the words "Lets just get this over with." were uttered by one of us as I put our car in park. Having just spent a couple of hours at another dealership we weren't in the greatest of moods and we saw no reason why our expectation level should be any higher here. Walking around, my wife and I came across the exact same make and model of a vehicle she had just test driven earlier that day, only in a more fashionable color. It wasn't long before Art approached us and began offering up information on the vehicle that had gotten our attention. He introduced us to Rick and before long we were out on the road, accompanied by Rick, on yet another test drive. Test drive completed and smiles all around it was time to accompany Art into his office to talk numbers. "Ugh, here we go again" I thought as we took our seats opposite Art at his desk. By this time things were unfolding a little differently though. Art was coming across as a very likable guy who was sincerely trying to work with us and our budget. No spiffy suit or gleaming jewelery screaming out how successful a salesman he is, or how fortunate we are to be dealing with him, all of which my wife and I find very off putting. Just neat but well worn dress slacks, a slightly frumpled dress shirt with rolled up sleeves and a necktie loosed about an unbuttoned top button made my wife and I feel at ease and relaxed . We got the impression Art was just a guy who enjoyed what he does for a living and who wanted to do as much as he reasonably could to see us get the car we wanted. After being clear to him about what our budget could withstand in the way of a monthly car payment and what we desired for our trade-in (a price we were very firm on at the advice of our mechanic and which I might add Art exceeded), we came to an agreement that both parties felt comfortable with and a handshake sealed the deal. We were passed off to Scott who handled our paperwork but by then the banks were closed and we would have to return the following morning to complete the transaction. Thursday morning came and after arriving to meet with Scott my wife and I were given yet another pleasant surprise. With the opening of the banks, Scott informed us he shopped around and was able to find a bank that had a lower interest rate than that which had been agreed upon by us the night before. My wife and I would have never known about the available lower interest rate should Scott not have bothered to inform us. His going above and beyond to save my wife and I a few more dollars a month on our payments sums up the experience my wife and I had there and exemplifies the character of the people we dealt with at Rockingham Toyota. I guess the highest compliment I can give them is that when it comes times for us to purchase another vehicle we won't hesitate to return there. More
