I received an airbag recall letter for my 2011 Ford Ranger. Cloninger Ford had done a great job handling a recall on my 2008 Ranger a few years ago. This time, though, I thought I’d try a dealer in ano Ranger. Cloninger Ford had done a great job handling a recall on my 2008 Ranger a few years ago. This time, though, I thought I’d try a dealer in another town so I could visit a favorite store while I waited. That dealer’s service manager said I would need to bring the truck in for an inspection to determine whether the airbag needed replacing. I was concerned that could mean two 1½-hour trips: one for the inspection and another for the installation if the part wasn’t in stock. I declined and called Cloninger Ford in Morganton, where I spoke with Landon Atwood. He checked the recall status and told me they wouldn’t need a preliminary inspection. Then he said, “If you would prefer, I can have our service guy meet you at your house and do the installation in your driveway.” Since my son drives the truck to work, Landon arranged for the service to be done at my son’s workplace instead. The technician arrived right on time, replaced the airbag, and sent me a video showing the completed work. I went from worrying about two trips to having the entire job taken care of without either of us making a trip to the dealership. That’s service worth telling people about!
